21  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Wonky but pretty, Our Lady of Guadelupe on: November 24, 2008 02:36:12 PM

I absolutely LOVE quilts.  I just suck at making them.  They are always terribly wonky and uneven.  Anyhow, I made this wallhanging for a friend.  I think because the fabric is so pretty that he won't even care about the wonkiness.  The roses have gold outlines, I shoulda got a close-up.  It's a nothing fancy, but I had two days to make it.  Thanks for looking Smiley
22  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / stripey and polka dot knit hoodie and leggings... lotsa pics on: September 12, 2008 12:01:25 PM
Holy Crap!! I was almost done posting this when my kid hit a button and BOOM it's all gone, so I walk away in frustration and my other kid has dumped out the sock bucket and was sitting there hiding pennies in her diaper!  Yeesh.

Anyway, I got the pattern for this from a cool site called patternrescue.com.  I love vintage and I looovvve knit, so this was perfect.  It ended up being way too big, but it will probably last forever or atleast through her younger sister.

I finished the edges with plain old serging.  Partly because I am lazy but mostly because my 1 yr old climbed on table to watch and was getting into stuff and swingin the chandilier, not from it but that was coming I could see it in his eyes.  THEN the older kids were screamin like wild banshees  because they were practicing the fine art of wedgie giving by having a fierce wedgie contest.  You think I am making this up...I couldn't begin to make up the kinda stuff these kids do...anywho...here it is:

It's not as crooked as it looks, it was kinda hangin to one side.  It was late,I was grouchy and the kid was HYYYYPERRRR, I wasn't goinig to mess with it.

I like the oversized hood.

Comment or criticisms welcome.  Oh yeah, and thanks for letting me vent! Tongue
23  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Space alien loveys...how sweet..pic hardy on: September 12, 2008 10:10:08 AM
I know this isn't clothing, but it's for my kiddos sooo...

It all started with my 5 yo wanting to make a robot with an icecream bucket and two toilet paper tubes...well I wasn't going there 'cause her younger siblings would destroy it in a heartbeat...sooo, I had her draw something and I quickly made it out of fleece.  OF COURSE, everyone and the neighbor kid had to have one.  Here are the three I have made so far.  I feel bad because the last two are nicer than my five year olds.  I just did hers to keep her from whining about making a robot that would get tore up in 10 seconds thereby starting world war 3. I might redo hers later, but I have three kids waiting semi patiently for theirs yet.  My dd was sick in these pics Sad  hers is named "hamster" Smiley

My lil' guys has big spongebob teeth bc he (love you baby!) has some shall we say spongebobesque teeth as well Smiley and the dealy on the aliens head was standing up, but they were flingin' the poor thing by it and it got floppy Sad

Ahhem, and lastly my 3 yo's alien is sporting a pair of "bootychicks" as she calls them bc she thinks it's funny.

Thanks for looking.

24  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My 5 yr old DD's photographic awesomeness on: August 12, 2008 10:09:01 PM
We bought our 5 yr old a beater digital camera from Ebay for her 4th birthday.  She is just starting to get the hang of it and is now a photographic crazy girl.  Most of them are what you would expet of a 5 yr old, but I thought there were a couple I thought were pretty good for her age so I edited them for her.  Her camera was stuck on black and white and the flash wouldn't work...what can I say, it was $8.  Happy to say both those things are fixed.  Anywho....without futher ado...

25  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / How can I customize this old prom dress for a 6 yo on: August 01, 2008 11:16:41 AM
My friends daughter loves to knock around in play dresses.  She gave an old prom dress that was passed to her and asked if I could do something with it so that her petite 6 yo could use it to dress up in.

My problem is the sheer part on the outside.  What a pain.  Obviously, I will have to take up the straps.  Should I sew the (crap I forget what they are called) breast seams in?  I'm just not sure what to do with it.

Any suggestions are very welcomed.

thanks

oh and the pics are blacked out bc i didn't want the 200 baby toys and ten loads of laundry in the background to distract from the dress  Tongue
26  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Is this considered art?*warning*Possibly frightening to small children! on: July 25, 2008 09:09:49 PM
I found this evil monster on my window ledge and quickly snapped his photo before he ran off.  If you see him, please do not approach as he is very dangerous! And remember, ALWAYS wash your vegetables before eating!  Shocked

Ok, so this is kinda dorky, but I'm comfortable with that. Grin

27  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Haven't sewn a stich in 3 months till now! on: July 22, 2008 10:23:11 AM
I have been out of commission for a while due to having baby 6.  He's now 2 months old and I thought I would try sewing again.  So I decided about 11 a.m. to start, but then I had to take care of my 3 other lil' ones that are home right now.  After getting them fat, fed, and happy (for the next ten min ;0) I got out my sewing stuff.  Then the baby woke up.  This is around one.  This goes on for hours.  Finally! Finally!  I get the outfit that should have taken 45m-1 hour done about 7 p.m.!! Whoohoo!

It's an old pillow case from Goodwill.  I really liked the print and my dd felt pretty wearing it.

Here's her sassy pose.

Thanks for looking!

28  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Some Nature Shots on: July 19, 2008 06:27:32 PM
I took these in the garden area at my church the other day.  I like close ups can you tell?  I am still learning the different features of my camera

Thanks for looking
29  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Teenage DD's henley T into coming soon wee man's coming home outfit on: April 25, 2008 11:24:30 AM

My oldest daughter had a bunch of clothes she didn't like anymore so I have be slowly reconning them into things for my lil' dd's.  Since we have a wee man coming very soon now I thought I would include him in the mix.   I didn't take a before pic, of course, but it was just a plain stripey henley t made of really stretchy, thin knit.
Since one day it can be 70 and the next (like today) rainy and 40 in the spring here, I wasn't too sure what to make.   The knit is super thin, though so i decided to add some sleeves with the little foldover deals to keep them from scratching to a premade onesie, added a star, and some cute lil' pants and cap.
I think it turned out pretty stylin'.  Whaddya you guys think?  Oh and sorry 'bout the inked up baby doll.  My 2 yr old DD apparently went through a tattooing phase.  Undecided

Thanks for lookin'!
30  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Another Cheytown dress Phat Pharm style on: April 08, 2008 10:20:15 AM
I found this awesome Phat Pharm shirt at the Salvation Army for 2.95.  It was a really neat design with the way it was pieced out and sewn in diagonals, soooo I turned it into a dress for my dd.  It was kind of weird to sew because it looked uneven but that's the way it was made.  It messed with my eyes a bit, but I figured it out.  I made the ribbon accent to long on the top, but my DD doesn't seem to mind so I'm not going to mess with it  Wink

Thanks for looking Smiley
