101  Tablet strips in What the heck can I do with THIS? by KatyMai on: February 19, 2008 06:02:27 AM
Iv now got a big bag of these as the local council wont recycle them and i refuse to throw them away. Any ideas for what i can do with old tablet strips? The bigger ones may work as moulds but some are much too small for that.

Heres a pic to show you what i mean by tablet strips as i dont know a proper name for them.

If anyone has any ideas id really appreciate them Smiley

102  Monkey Nokey! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by KatyMai on: February 19, 2008 05:14:30 AM
I saw these Monkey Key Caps advertised on Crafster in that little top right advert box and just knew i had to get some! Iv lost the link now and no amount of refreshing is bringing them up sorry, but this is what the pack looks like when you get it..

Anyway i got them in the post and after 5mins of waving them in front of hubbys face shouting about how great they were i realised i only actually own 2 keys  Sad So once id picked 2 out and attached them and again -of course- told hubby how great they were (why does he put up with me?!) i couldnt face putting the rest into a drawer knowing they'd never see the light of day again. Instead i turned to my trusty crafting desk and set to work, now i have a Monkey-Nokey jewellery set, YAY!

Heres the pics...

A choker made with a thin strip of black crushed velvet.

And two nice simple earrings.

I love my monkey set Cheesy

103  Bumble Bee Beads! in Beads: Completed Projects by KatyMai on: February 18, 2008 03:13:00 AM
I loved these beads the second i saw them, they are like a cross between big bumble bees and old fashioned sweets! I decided to give them a garden theme bracelet and then some earrings to match, i love wearing these they shine and glitter when the suns out.

Also i love how elegant these Semi-See-Through leaves look with silver chain, so i kept this set really simple. Err... action shots only, ignore the bad hair day!

Hope you like them Smiley

105  Re: Wire wrapped pendants. ~~Img Heavy~~ in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by KatyMai on: February 16, 2008 09:46:02 AM
Unfortunately the photos of that one didnt come out very well.

Thats the best one.

It has a string of clear beads with a small silver flower and heart bead at the end. It stays in the position its pictured in. To be honest that one was a bit of an experiment that went wrong!

106  Wire wrapped pendants. ~~Img Heavy~~ in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by KatyMai on: February 16, 2008 08:58:10 AM
I went on a wire wrapping spree today!  Cheesy

It was my first time trying this technique and it was great fun, although i now have numerous holes in my fingers from the wire!! Some of the edges are a bit rough so just pretend you dont see them  Wink

Unfortunately the wire isnt anywhere near even on this one but i still really like it. The circle bead came from an old belt that i didnt like (otherwords became too small to use) as did the smaller beads with it. The circle bead with the hole in it is 4 and a half centimeters in diameter, i forgot to ask hubby to do a size shot as he was the one who took the photos for me.

Its hard to see but all of the wrapped stones are a gorgeously deep but shiny blood red colour, really really nice. I think i prefer them wrapped in silver wire rather than the gold but i ran out  Sad Still the gold doesnt look too bad.....

They all have a little hoop on the back to thread a chain or cord through to wear as pendants. Some of them have the hoop on show some dont.

I cant wait to get some more silver wire so that i can make that one again in the colour i prefer  Grin

So anywayz theres my first post of things iv made, sorry its pic heavy, im really pleased with how they've turned out, what do you think? Any tips hints or suggestion for when i get more wire are appreciated as i really enjoyed making them but as its my first time i probably messed up quite a lot!!

Thanks.
