1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Dealing with sleeves when sewing side panels into t-shirt? on: December 11, 2007 10:32:56 AM
Hi!
I am sure this has been asked before but I searched under a million terms and couldn't find what I was looking for...if anyone knows of a similar thread I could go to for help, my apologies and please direct me there!

I have a friend who bought an American Apparel shirt that is (surprise!) too small to be decent in public. I think she just needs a little more room in the boobular area and would just like it a little looser overall. She asked how it could be made bigger for her, and while I am good at quilting & making bags and such, I have very little experience with garments outside of baby clothes. I suggested that maybe I could sew in a couple side panels for her, which she says would be fine, but she asked how would side panels work with sleeves, since the sleeves fit her fine and I have no idea how that would work.

Is there some sort of tutorial somewhere for just adding side panels to a shirt while leaving the sleeves alone? Or something?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

This is the coolest thing I have ever seen, and I don't even know what Domokun is!  I made my own machine cover too, out of a strawberry printed vinyl, and it came out pretty cute, but no where near as awesome as this!
