21  Folk Art Autumn Tree in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by string theory on: August 13, 2008 12:12:04 PM
This tree is based off of an image from an art book that was my grandmothers when she was in school...

22  So much bubble gum, you might just need to vomit :) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by string theory on: August 12, 2008 03:21:21 PM
I made this dress last night and I can't decide if it is cute or really weird ( it is funny how close it can be to both). It is a lot of pink and slightly costumey, but I think that I like it

What do you think? Is it too strange to wear in public?

23  Opossums.... in Stenciling: Completed Projects by string theory on: August 08, 2008 11:47:42 AM
My brother has this strange love for everything opossum so for his birthday, I decorated this shirt that I got at the thrift store...
Here is a close up of the design:

And  the opossum:

I think that he is going to love it! I am pretty proud of it. We are both pretty huge geeks, so he  will really think it's funny.
Thanks for looking!

24  Baby bubble dress in blue in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by string theory on: August 04, 2008 07:36:34 PM
I made this dress for my baby girl while she was sleeping and when she awoke, I found out that I had made it entirely too short and it is really on the verge of not being passible as a dress at all, but it is cute. She wore it to the grandparents house on Sunday and it was very cute and voluminous. Still,  I think that I am going to pass it down to a friend who has a four month old.

26  ultra cute baby dress from old tank top in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by string theory on: August 01, 2008 08:57:38 AM
I made this dress for my daughter from an old tank top (that looked horrible on me) and a little bit of scrap fabric from my stash. I love how it turned out. She looks so cute!
Front:

Back:

I had to use a white zipper since it was the only one available to me. but I think it is okay.

Action shot:

She already got slobber on it, after wearing it for less than 5 minutes...

I made up the pattern, I was really happy in the morning to discover that it actually fits her!
Thanks for looking!  Grin

27  Baby Bear/ Mouse hat *gratuitous cute baby pics* in Crochet: Completed Projects by string theory on: July 29, 2008 04:56:27 PM
I made this hat for myself a few years ago and never actually wore it outside my house since I was too old to wear a hat with ears. It got put in a box and I recently unearthed it and discovered that it fits my baby girl! I am so excited since it enhances her natural cuteness by a factor of 10!  Smiley
Now... if only it wasn't summer and 110 degrees outside...

and, another picture, just for the cuteness:

I guess that I can wait until it gets cold enough to wear... don't want to give the baby heat stroke  Tongue

thanks for looking Grin

28  "Everything AND the kitchen sink" bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by string theory on: July 24, 2008 08:25:49 AM
This is a shopping bag that I modeled after a bag that I recently got at goodwill and love for it's roominess. It is GIGANTIC... probably the equivalent of 6-8 grocery bags. It is also handy since it folds up to a nice compact size for travel.

Here it is splayed out on the floor

here it is displaying its girth while containing a garbage bag  (mostly) full of clothes to go to goodwill

Here is my hubby modeling it so you can see how large it is

here it is neatly folded up next to a tennis ball for size

I took this thing to target and everything that I bought fit into this one bag... a pillow, a doll, a pack of diapers, and other miscellaneous things...Thanks for looking!

29  "CAN WE FIX IT?" AKA: Bob cake *A Gaggle of pics* in Dessert by string theory on: July 20, 2008 01:58:21 PM
It is my boys third birthday and, after seeing all of the lovely fondant covered cakes here (and watching too much "Ace of Cakes"), I decided to try my hand at it. He, being the typical 3 year old boy, loves anything to do with contruction trucks and Bob the builder is one of his favorite shows. So, I made him a Bob cake, complete with die cast Bob trucks. I can't wait to see his face when he sees it!
Here it is...

The roads and concrete are always pink on bob the builder...

All of the trees are like this on the show, so I had to do a Bob tree

Here is Roley smoothing out the road

Benny is moving some rocks...

Scoop is digging a hole...

Muck is loading up dirt...

Tumbler is pouring concrete...

Pilchard (Bob's cat) is resting under the tree...

I hope you like it! I am pretty proud of the results! He is going to love it!

30  Apron inspired dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by string theory on: July 17, 2008 04:00:58 PM
So, I found an apron at the thrift store that I have been in love with and wearing all the time (it is a marvelous addition to the wardrobe on those "fat days"). However, I was getting tired of all of the questions and comments and confused looks from my family and friends ("Is that an Apron?" inquires my mother. "Yes," I reply. "Why are you wearing that outside the house" she asks. "I like it" I respond)  SO I decided to make a dress (or is it a jumper?) that resembled the apron so that I could wear it out and not look like a crazy person... I am so happy with the result!

Here is a front view...

I love the pockets...

And a back...

close up of front...

I really love it! It is so comfortable and has great layering potential! Obviously it is meant to be worn with a shirt... like an apron...  but, my dress form is a known exhibitionist so she doesn't care if she gets a little indecent on the internet.
