1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Nursery! on: October 08, 2010 09:12:14 AM
I really wish I had taken before pics of the clutter of this room before it was transformed into a nursery, but without further adieu...

I made the valance, comforter and bed skirt. We painted, sanded down the drawer/shelving and repainted all of that, filled the room with baby stuff, and now we're just waiting for her to arrive! Cheesy
2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Baby Showers Galore!! PIC SUPER HEAVY! on: March 05, 2009 09:01:50 AM
Hello everyone! It's not too often that I get to post on the kid's board! I am part of a great TTC(Trying to Conceive) forum as my DH and I have been trying for 15 long, grueling cycles for baby #1. Anyhow, long story short, I have made lots of new friends on the forum and a few of them have just started having their babies! Here's what I made:

Gift #1 - McCall's 2213 View C is for a girl living in Cali. She frequents the beach so I thought this was the perfect route to go. This is the first baby stuff I have ever made!

Hat: Set:

Gift #2 - This is for a friend in Canada. She had her baby boy just a few days from the recepient of Gift #1. I wasn't able to find any completely awesome patterns for boys clothing aside from the generic layette sets and such, so I settled for a nice thick baby blanket.

Ready to go:

Gifts #3&4 - This is for a friend whose baby shower I am attending this weekend. She's having boy and girl twins. I made matching, yet opposite blankets to go with her jungle motif. As modeled by my closet doors:

I hope you like everything!

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Animated Batman Top on: January 21, 2009 09:29:55 PM
Hello everyone! It's been a while since I last posted, but you know how that can go.  Wink I made this top last night with an Animated Batman sheet. Originally it was going to be a dress, but after I had the pieces cut out and on my dressform I decided I liked it better as a top. As a plus it goes perfect with my new purple jeans - it's kinda hard to tell by the pic, but they are purple! Needless to say, I won't be wearing this anytime soon seeing as it's 20F outside. Anyhow, I like it & it was fast and simple to make!

I owe abblie a thanks for the inspiration from http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=53916.0  Smiley

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Butterick Diaper Bag 4560 - IMG Heavy on: August 10, 2008 12:20:08 PM
Long story short: DH and I have been trying to conceive for 8 months now. It's been a long and very drawn out time for both of us. I would have never imagined getting pregnant would be such a pain in the ass. Through all of the charting, fertility testing, and one hell of an emotional roller coaster we have been through I always make small baby things to keep myself optimistic. This last failure of a cycle I decided to make a diaper bag. I have had my eye on this particular fabric for some time and finally bought it for a diaper bag! After all - it's the parent's that have to carry it, why make it baby themed, right? That being said here it is: Butterick Pattern 4560. It wasn't hard, but it was very very time consuming... Sorry for the quality of some of the photos, but I think you can understand what's going on.  Wink

I am going to make a folding diaper changing mat to go on the inside, too.

Do you like it? Smiley
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Star Wars Dress on: May 20, 2008 01:49:18 PM
Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've posted and wanted to share my newest summer dress in the works! It's almost done aside from sewing on the straps and the ribbon that ties around the back. I also want to find a Darth Vader to attach to the bottom front, right side. I hope you like it!

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Bereavement gift HELP! on: May 10, 2008 12:17:19 AM
Hello fellow craftsters! A very good friend of mines mother just passed away due to liver cancer. Seeing as how we are hundreds of miles away and I cannot provide him with a shoulder to cry on, I would like to send him some sort of bereavement gift, but don't  know where to start! His mother was an artist(painter) and was due to opening a gallery in only two weeks. She was quite frankly the strongest woman I have ever known. She was a breast cancer survivor and only four years later was diagnosed with liver cancer. She decided that she would live with the cancer until it killed her and made peace with what was to be. Neither he or his mother are religious, but she was very spiritual. For those of you interested here is a link to some of her paintings: http://www.shawcramergallery.com/artists/dawngreeley.shtml

If you have any ideas of what I could send him, I am open to anything! I know that I am going to send him a japanese maple to plant in her honor, but would like to make something, too. I do a lot of sewing so anything related with that would be great. Any ideas?
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Very First Sewing Project! on: February 02, 2008 10:23:33 AM
Hello all! I am new to craftster and thought I would share with you, my very first post & project! My husband bought me a sewing machine for Christmas this past year. I have never really been into sewing, but it's my newest addiction! I have always been into interior design and upholstering, but this year I have a new love! I picked up Simplicity pattern 2995 and went to work on my first project. I am pleased as there are only minor screwups - here is my new dress! Since it is my first post and I have to post 10 times before I can post a pic, here are the links:
