1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / mother 3 "translator" pillow on: November 24, 2008 12:56:18 PM
I don't know how many of you are familiar with the MOTHER series of games, but if you've recently played the Mother 3 fan translation that came out last month, you'll recognize this character:

I liked this minor character so much that I decided to make her into a pillow!

I've never made a pillow before, and I figured that since it was a simple square it would be an easy task, but it was actually a lot of work!

I also thought it would be appropriate to make a pillow of the translator (she translates for a guy who speaks through music), since the fan translation of the game is the only reason I was able to play it in the first place!
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / slitherhen from mother 3 on: November 23, 2008 12:20:55 PM
a tribute to one of my favorite enemies from mother 3!  if you're not familiar with the game, the slitherhen is one of the chimeras created by the villains of the game.  this one is (hopefully clearly!) a combination of a chicken and a snake.

here's the sprite:

what do you think? (:
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Ness and Paula fuzzy dice from EarthBound on: September 08, 2008 08:03:57 PM
So they're not really DICE, but they're meant to be used in the same way.  Just a little something to commemorate my favorite game ever!

I might add a frying pan and a baseball bat later.

oh, and Paula's face isn't as messed up as it looks in this picture.
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Velazquez on: May 27, 2008 02:49:46 PM
This is Velazquez.  I had the leg of this awesome pair of grey jeans, and I really wanted to use it in something.  This was all I could come up with.  He is only about 4.5" tall.

5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Home Movies' Jason Penopolis! on: May 25, 2008 04:37:47 PM
Home Movies is my second favorite show.  My favorite characters are Walter and Perry, but unfortunately I didn't have enough fabric to make them (you can't have one without the other, after all!)  So instead of making them, I decided to make Jason.

these pictures were taken on my phone, so unfortunately they're super low-quality.  His arms are supposed to be down by their sides, although in my opinion it's kind of hard to tell. ):

Felt food > real food if you ask me!

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / A pal for Hacksaw Hal (Nintendo DS Lite case!) on: February 17, 2008 11:00:47 PM
First things first, this is Hacksaw Hal:

And this is Herb, the pal I made for Hal:

Herb and Hal met in prison and have been best friends ever since.  Herb is the operator of the ferris wheel at the county fair.  Due to a nasty prison fight, he cannot close his left eye.

I planned for Herb to be a regular plushie, but ran out of felt for his body.  So he became a case for a DS Lite.  Of course, he could be used for anything, but a DS fits inside him nicely.  He is made completely of felt and is secured close by a large snap.  Thanks for looking!
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Little Monster DS Lite case on: February 04, 2008 05:10:22 PM
This was going to be a regular, full-sized plushie, but I didn't like the body so I snipped it off and made a cute little case for my DS.  I'm also thinking of making some other ones for iPods, PSPs, cell phones, and maybe even laptop cases (although I can't see any serious laptop user carrying around a cutesy monster laptop case).

I added some fluffy padding so nothing breaks.  Unfortunately I didn't have any zippers or Velcro handy, so I had to use those stupid snaps.
9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Wilhelmina the Miniature Whale on: February 04, 2008 05:01:08 PM
Wilhelmina Whale! Cheesy

Wow, was it hard to turn out the little ends of her tail!

Thanks for looking. Cheesy
10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Hacksaw Hal a.k.a. the most complicated thing I've ever made. on: February 02, 2008 11:06:51 AM
Meet Hacksaw Hal, the balloon-animal maker at the county fair.  Hal enjoys Miller Lite beer and women who "keep an open mind".

I've never used a zipper before, so making the pocket and sewing it to the back of the suit was a real challenge, since I just guessed at how to do it.  The idea came from something I drew on my notebook in class last week.

Hal is also the first free-standing thing I've ever made.

The zipper to his suit is a pocket!
