1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Insanely comfy pencilskirt on: July 31, 2009 07:19:29 AM
basicially this is nothing fancy: a black pencilskirt with a pink stripe running up both sides (to cover up the flaws in de seams)

I thought I should post it anyways, cause it's made from t-shirt fabric (jersey?) and therefor insanely comfy!
I can easily walk stairs or climb in my Chevy Van and, although I haven't tried it yet, I bet I can even ride my bike and boogie in this one  Grin

2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Dutch gifts for American relatives? on: July 20, 2009 08:17:08 AM
 hi!

My boyfriend has some overseas relatives (Holland MI, Bellevue WA and Halfmoon Bay CA) and we want to sent them some goodies for no particular reason. They're all real nice people, we visited them in 2005 and 2006, and planning to visit again next summer. I 'd like to sent all three a small package, and because we 're Dutch I want to sent them some stuff related to their Dutch heritage. Any suggestions on small goodies to craft/buy?  Roll Eyes It has to fit in a bubblewrap-envelope...

So far I thought about sending some:
-drop (liquorice)
-mini packages of hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles which go on bread)
-Dutch chocolate
-miniature wooden shoes
-fancy postcards

Oh and I made these bags to put the goodies in:

What do you think? I like the fact it's a little kitsch-y, but not too much.
3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Stealing Penguins on: April 25, 2009 09:04:21 AM
last january I visited my favourite animals in the zoo: the penguins! In this zoo you can walk through (some of) their habitat, so there's a warning sign out front that says: Watch out! Penguins bite!" But you could misread it as: "Watch out! Penguins steal!" (it's in Dutch...) My boyfriend and I always joke about that, and this is what came out...

Me carefully reading the warning sign (and it looks like I spotted the penguin with the binoculars too) and penguins stealing valuable stuff out of my bag!

Drew the penguins with my beloved Copic multiliner, scanned them and edited it with Photoshop. Let me know what you think (as I'm not completely happy with it yet, and one of my teacher thinks I suck at drawing)
4  COOKING / Dessert / Rotkpchen Torte on: December 18, 2008 05:49:26 AM
Last year my little sister lived in Berlin for a few months with a friend, and when she came home she brought me this delicious looking box of 'Backmischung'! (cakemix, that is) That, and some other wonderfull stuff like food coloring (can't find that too easily around here). I had my birthday last saturday and finally came around to make the Rotkpchen Torte, it was as good as it looked  Cheesy Although I didn't make it quite as fancy as it looks on the box...

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / rock 'n' roll diaper bag for a rockin' mom on: December 03, 2008 12:48:24 PM
one of my best friends had her second son a few weeks ago, and she asked me to make her a diaperbag. Only requirements where: big, lots of pockets, black and skully, the rest was up to me. I decided to make it messenger style, and drew the pattern myself. The outside is a jeans fabric, the lining and pockets have roses (she's got a sleeve with roses tattooed on one arm) and skulls printed on it.

She really likes it  Cheesy

unfortunately, all the cool pockets don't show really well here

I also made some matching burp cloths (the skulls are my own design too)

Did I mention they're the most rockin' parents I know?

7  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / rock 'n roll dancing-sneakers! on: November 09, 2008 04:27:05 AM
this fall my boyfriend and I decided to take some lessons to learn how to rock 'n roll, and we all know you dance best in All Stars. Only problem is, as the weather gets colder around here, so do my poor feet in in my old Chuck Taylors...

Then I found these Converse-like El Cheapo shoes, with pink fake-fur on the inside. They were red on the outside, so I decided to try and paint them black, cause that goes waaay better with pink!

this is how they came out:

during the process:

and this is how they were:

what do you think? I'm pretty pleased with them, but maybe I 'll buy some more dye to cover up the red a little better in some areas.

9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Scania & VW t-shirts on: May 08, 2008 01:21:58 PM
Since my best friends got a son last year, I 'm making him lots of cool shirts. A friend of them saw the 'Opel-shirt' I made him (don't have a pic of that one) and asked if I could make shirts with the Scania and VW logo's for their kid.
