1  Re: International Snack Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by HM Elfke on: August 20, 2010 01:11:03 PM
okay, here's what titaniumhip send me:

a reusable shopping bag and matching Canadian pens

peanutbutter, two sorts of Pringles (the ketchup flavoured one is literally mouth-watering!) and instant mac and cheese (gonna take that with me tomorrow to a weekender I'm attending)

Smarties! (I think they taste a little different than ours, but that could be just me), a chocolate and mint bar (reminded me of the Aero bars I devoured at the airport in Dublin), a coffee flavoured chocolate bar, Rockets (think we got real small versions of those) and candy powder in fruity shapes

my favourites: the Canadian stuff! Maple lollipop, Maple candy, maple cookies (SO yummie), chewing gum, tea with grape flavour (?) and dried cranberries!

the maple candy came in this adorable bag, which had two charms hanging from it

obviously, I get the Canadian flag, but what's with the 'eh?' ?  Huh

2  Re: Vintage 'dos and make-up (Come share your secrets!) in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by HM Elfke on: February 28, 2010 03:06:43 PM
this is how I fixed my hair some days ago:

Kinda victory rolls, but real small, cause I can't seem to get the hang of them. It's by all means not perfect, but it held up in the rain and stormy weather (pic is actually taken after I got home) so it wasn't that bad. I'm wearing Benefit's Frenched lipstick which is actually more 'red' than it appears to be in this pics. I love it's colour and silkyness, though it bleeds quite easily, even when using lipliner.

3  Insanely comfy pencilskirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by HM Elfke on: July 31, 2009 07:19:29 AM
basicially this is nothing fancy: a black pencilskirt with a pink stripe running up both sides (to cover up the flaws in de seams)

I thought I should post it anyways, cause it's made from t-shirt fabric (jersey?) and therefor insanely comfy!
I can easily walk stairs or climb in my Chevy Van and, although I haven't tried it yet, I bet I can even ride my bike and boogie in this one  Grin

4  Dutch gifts for American relatives? in Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage by HM Elfke on: July 20, 2009 08:17:08 AM
 hi!

My boyfriend has some overseas relatives (Holland MI, Bellevue WA and Halfmoon Bay CA) and we want to sent them some goodies for no particular reason. They're all real nice people, we visited them in 2005 and 2006, and planning to visit again next summer. I 'd like to sent all three a small package, and because we 're Dutch I want to sent them some stuff related to their Dutch heritage. Any suggestions on small goodies to craft/buy?  Roll Eyes It has to fit in a bubblewrap-envelope...

So far I thought about sending some:
-drop (liquorice)
-mini packages of hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles which go on bread)
-Dutch chocolate
-miniature wooden shoes
-fancy postcards

Oh and I made these bags to put the goodies in:

What do you think? I like the fact it's a little kitsch-y, but not too much.

5  Re: Guys & Dolls (1940s / 1950s) Swap in The Swap Gallery by HM Elfke on: June 15, 2009 09:09:22 AM
 finally, pictures of my loot!

I was lucky enough to have two people (mother and daughter) crafting for me, so they reallyreally spoiled me!

they made me a circleskirt too!

And a purse (don't know the exact word) for my make-up and stuff, filled with yummy candy

a lovely necklace with swallows in my favourite colours

fridge magnets and cool vintage pins (love the cars!)

a notebook and a real vintage magazine (the secret of the dancer)

postcards and little samples of make up/perfume/face cream (which I can put to good use, since I like to travel light on trips and when I'm out in the fields with the army)

thanks so much for spoiling me, Alix and Pat!

7  Stealing Penguins in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by HM Elfke on: April 25, 2009 09:04:21 AM
last january I visited my favourite animals in the zoo: the penguins! In this zoo you can walk through (some of) their habitat, so there's a warning sign out front that says: Watch out! Penguins bite!" But you could misread it as: "Watch out! Penguins steal!" (it's in Dutch...) My boyfriend and I always joke about that, and this is what came out...

Me carefully reading the warning sign (and it looks like I spotted the penguin with the binoculars too) and penguins stealing valuable stuff out of my bag!

Drew the penguins with my beloved Copic multiliner, scanned them and edited it with Photoshop. Let me know what you think (as I'm not completely happy with it yet, and one of my teacher thinks I suck at drawing)
