1  You can call me queen bee embroidered wall art in Needlework: Completed Projects by PromisedHeartbrk on: September 24, 2016 10:58:23 AM
Not sure what category to put this in. Let me know if I'm wrong i will move it. I concentrated mostly in the embroidering for this project.

I was partners with the lovely ladybugsandbumblebees. In the recent round of "the giant multithemed swap"... I knew i had to use the quote of "you can call me queen bee". It made me chuckle so i had to come up with something.
This is my first art quilt? Maybe not quite sure what makes an art quilt but i relied heavily on my embroidering skills.
The woman is one of my "manakinns" as they were dubbed way back in high school, ive been drawing them longer than i can remember. I drew her and the background in with inktense pencils, used some fabric for her dress and beads for all the little doodads.
This project took waaaaaay longer than expected but it was a labor of love. This is probably the first project in awhile that actually came out exactly how i imagined it (does anyone else have that problem too?).
This is around 30+ hours of work. Most was improvised and done "on the fly". As i do most of the time. But i was really pleased in the final product.
Enough jabber on to the photos...

I cant seem to find any of the detail shots i took but the swirls, colors of the bees, grass and even shimmer in the wings is all stitching.

2  Re: Giant Multi Theme Swap Round 4 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by PromisedHeartbrk on: September 23, 2016 09:22:22 PM
Im so glad you liked everything LBaBB!

Ok so i recieved on monday 2 of my 3 packages.  Between the kiddo being sick then me catching it, i didnt have a chance to look for package three. Today i finally got it aftet going to the empty neighbors house. No idea why it ended up there lol.

Here is my awesome package from the amazing ladybugsandbumblebees!
First up for my theme of acorns/trees/oaks

The whole view.... Some awesome tags, labels and cards. I can not wait to swap again so that i get to use these cute little items.

How cute is this? I asked for something to store my embroidery needles in and she delivered! Ive been using a ziploc baggie to hold my needles when i travel. Well no more!

How pretty is this hoop? I love the different little beads, i have it on my hoopla wall already. It fits right in Smiley
Next up it my harry potter theme

Oh yeah i have a harrypotter scarf!!! And arm warmers!!! The scarf is huge and i love it so much. Just around my neck it goes to my knees which means i get to snuggle it and can tie it. I never remember to make scarves long enough when i did them lol. How awesome is the label?!?!? LBaBB and i both have our own "ohanas" i was touched to see the label since we messaged about it.
The arm warmers keep getting stolen by the monster. She thinks they are iron man (tbh i didnt even think of it. The colors work for him too!) shes been running around "pew pew"ing everything.
Next up is my sugar skull theme

A tote! She handsewed it! The stitches are so perfect i would have never guessed. This bag has become my new travel hoop bag. I love it. The inside is cat eyes... The exact shade of my old cats eyes that was an awesome surprise Smiley
She hand painted this tile.. I love it i hung it with a giant sugar skull portrait i got for my birthday last year and it looks right at home.
These goodies were for my key theme

This mobile is waiting to be hung. I havent quite figured out if iwant to squirrel it away in my room or hang it where everyone can enjoy it lol. I may be selfish with this. I love the fabric... So many of my favorite things in one piece.

My favorite color is teal and keys have always been a "thing" of mine. I have the perfect outfit to wear this beauty with. I cant wait to go somewhere now and show it off. (I live a sheltered-hermitish life lol)
Next up is my star theme. Im so upset i wasnt able to get a great photo of the amazing blanket but im going to try again tomorrow in daylight.
Ive literally been pining for this since i first saw it on pinterest and my crocheting abilities are sorely lacking. So this is heaven for me... Plus the colors match my bedroom perfectly. So perfectly i cant believe it lol

The jar pin cushion is so awesome... I somehow have never seen these before. Its already on my little workspace table, holding all my working needles. Plus she sent goodies inside! Embroidery floss, more needles and how cute is that paper punch? I know i keep raving but this package has got to be one of my favorites. I was so spoiled!
She also sent two little unicorns, a dory sticker and a dory coloring book for the monster. Sadly she ran off with them before i got a picture Roll Eyes

Here are a ton of extras she sent a hoop, some scrapbook papers (who can ever have enough) some shells from local beaches and so much other stuff.

Thank you so much for being an amazing swap partner Ladybugsandbumblebees!

3  Gelli plate and embroidery mashup in Needlework: Completed Projects by PromisedHeartbrk on: September 12, 2016 12:45:42 PM
Hi, my name is mana and im addicted to gelli printing. Its become a bit of a problem in my house. Paints, stencils, random things covered in paint are pretty much taking over. Lol

Ok its not quite that bad, but almost.

I decided to print a few pieces of fabric up just to see how it differs from paper,  one goodwill white bedsheet later and i had about 30 pieces of 8x10 fabric prints. Now i dont sew much but i love to embroider.
Here are a few of the pieces i started, i have a stack of ten ready to stitch once i get the time. Most are out of hoops, half stitched, or need another round of gelli. I tend to work mass, then finish as i feel like it.

And one i did for a friend as a joke. Nsfw

4  Re: Craftster Card Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by PromisedHeartbrk on: August 23, 2016 07:44:19 AM
When I got my beautiful handmade envelope from craftylittlemonkey, it was sealed up pretty well...I could not find a way to open it!  I sort of shook it around to make sure the card was out of the way, then took my trusty scissors and cut ever the tiniest bit at one end...well, lucky me!  Look what dropped out of the envelope along with my trading card...BONUS!!! Grin

(Hello Handsome!)

ha ha ha I think I am pretty darn lucky to have such an amazing group of craftster friends! Grin

Lucky you! When i peeled back the flap on mine i got a scare!
Then i cracked up because id opened it perfectly for the image

5  Mandala in Needlework: Completed Projects by PromisedHeartbrk on: August 20, 2016 08:00:27 PM
I worked on this for the stitched mandala swap I hosted. I made this for Abeeroad.
This is actually the second version, the first was accidently snipped while trimming threads (I really need to buy myself a set those tiny embroidery scissors lol  Roll Eyes )
Its mainly free-handed, abbeeroad mentioned that she enjoyed the more organic style, and enjoyed pops of color with black and white. I tried my best with that combo. I tend to go overboard when i draw mandala's so i wanted to keep it cleaner so i could actually stitch it since I'm still newer to embroidery.
I also wanted to play a bit with different thicknesses of threads/lines, i tried the dmc cotton rolls out, and i used plain old sewing thread for certain lines to get really thin lines (the stripes in the flower petals). Overall it was a blast to try out new techniques and to just play with it.
I also think i have finally figured out the French knot!  Grin
On to the pictures

8  Gelli print key holder in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by PromisedHeartbrk on: August 13, 2016 07:33:38 PM
So my new addiction of gelli plate printing has wielded hundreds of prints (yeah its that bad  Grin) i found a use for a few, butcher paper decoupage. This is the second item I did, the first is a gift  thati cant post yet.

Im constantly losing my keys, in fact I rotate between 4 different sets because I usually have misplaced at least two at any given time. I found a simple, raw wood keys rack at goodwill for .50 and painted it black. It didnt catch my eye enough to actually remind me to hang my keys. So now that its pretty, Im really hoping this works for me.

Since most of mine are recieved if not all. Everyone got some variation of these cards:

And the backs:

If I have swapped with you before I sliced off the "favorite saying" and signed it. I think there were only three of those.
And in a few of the envies i included some stickers that i made while printing the card backgrounds
