11  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: Wedding shoes OMG on: April 10, 2012 11:56:27 AM
Oh they're beautiful!! I'm trying to find different ideas for blue shoes myself since I do want them to be my "something blue" under my dress. LOL

Did you glue the ribbons on? And is each piece one cut strand or did you just use longer, continuous pieces of ribbon? Last question - do you know the approximate number of rhinestones you used for the heels? I'm debating on glitter versus rhinestone currently but these are lovely!

Each ribbon is individually measured, cut, sealed to prevent fraying, and then adhered with industrial strength adhesive. In the final pair, there are over 1,000 crystals on the heels. This pair took me over 10 hours to complete Smiley

Glitter is less time consuming, and significantly less expensive. I don't have the patience to clean it up though. I also used to work for Swarovski so I had to incorporate them into my wedding somehow too. =P

We're having a surprise party for one of my bridesmaids this weekend and I've had my outfit all planned out for about a month. But no shoes. So yesterday I got off my butt, headed to the store, grabbed me some 5.25 inchers, and got to work on something I had wanted to do for a long time.

I won't be driving in these. (Hooray fast flats!)

I originally planned for these to be my summer flats. I do have a pair of flats coming in for that exact reason, so I'm pretty sure I'm still going to do the flats too. They're so colorful and fun!

I give most of the credit to my mom. After a church dinner months ago, she gave me a giant envelope and said, "I'm sure you can think of something to do with these!" Behold, the raffle tickets!

They look stellar with black tights. Absolutely stellar.

So......... I'm getting married in August. The biggest question everyone asks me is, "what shoes are you wearing?" For a long time it was a huge: I HAVE NO IDEA!

Sprinkles?
Monopoly Money?
Harry Potter?
Oatmeal!?

I really had no idea what I wanted to incorporate through footwear. So I thought and thought and thought and thought and finally decided that I want something simple(er), classy, yet still bold. And I want to wear them to dinner on our honeymoon cruise.

Enjoy!

This blue is my absolute favourite color. It's also the theme of our wedding. I wouldn't exactly say these shoes are my 'something blue', as half of my outfit is this color haha

I snagged these super comfy 3 inchers at DSW for $40 Cheesy

I love bows.

The only downfall to these is that the satin ribbon is so silky, I'm going to need to put heel grips inside so I don't reenact Cinderella walking down the stairs haha

I used to hoard movie ticket stubs, but I lost them all during a move. Sad times. Sad
