1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / 2016 Moleskine Planner on: December 14, 2015 10:20:06 AM
Decorate your Moleskine planner by hand sewing!

Materials:
- Moleskine Agenda
- 1 Sewing Needle
- 4 colors Embroidery Threads
- Sewing Awl or Ice Pick
- Pencil and Eraser

1. Behind the cover of the book, make line art of your design.

2. Pierce holes following the line drawing. About 0.2~0.3mm apart or your preference.

3. Unravel embroidery thread and thread 3 strands through the needle.

4. Stitch the pattern.

5. Option: When your done stitching, you can brush with nail polish on the knots to stiffen so knots won't untangle.

2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Paper Banana Ornaments on: December 14, 2015 10:11:13 AM
I used Minion theme to decorate my Christmas tree this year.
As part of that theme I created paper banana ornaments and paper garland that you can make yourself!

So I found these adorable keychains from capsule toys from Walmart while back (I did keep buying them until I collected them all so I have few doubles). I had them hang on my cork board as decoration then an idea came up that I can use these as Christmas ornaments! These graphical minions are my favorite style.

Papercraft Banana Ornaments:
I made this from 3D program and textured quickly in Photoshop. Please use 8.5x11 cardstock in quality print job. Document size will print at 8x10.

It's about 3.5cm height when it's finished.

Materials:
- Banana papercraft DOWNLOAD HERE  (makes 18 ornaments) : http://www.yukikotsu.com/extra/PAPERCRAFT_banana01.jpg
- Scissors
- Gluestick
- Thread
- Needle

Step 1:
Print out papercraft of the banana ornaments. Cut out all the patterns and glue them together. Let it dry.

Step 2:
You have 2 options.
Option 1 : Use Black sewing thread and thread through tip of the banana and make a knot. I did this method so the thread won't be visible when I hang them.
Option 2 : If you want the thread to be visible, you can use thicker strings and glue gun the string on back side of the banana.

Paper Garland:
This is easy peasy paper garland you can make with any kind of cardstock paper and mindlessly sititch across with a sewing machine.

Material:
- Color Paper
- Scissors
- Sewing Machine

Step 1:
Cut paper into strip about 1cm. Then cut into square. *It doesn't have to be perfect square.

Step 2:
With sewing machine, place one square under the needle to start. At slow pace, put next square under the foot and keep doing this until you run out squares.

*The gap between squares aren't perfectly measured. So it's ok to randomize that part.

4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Last Minute Costume Idea : "Connect the Dots" costume on: October 11, 2015 09:15:25 PM
This is an idea for busy people who needs Halloween costume last minute!
Let's make "Connect the Dots" costume based from kid's activity of connect the dots pictures.

All you need is cardboard covered with white paint (or grab white cardboard), scissors/knife, and black sharpie marker. It's better to go for simple iconic image like a person walking with a dog, a kid walking with a balloon or fisherman. I did a girl walking in the rain.
Original blog post:
http://yukikotsu.blogspot.ca/2014/11/a-girl-walking-in-rain.html

Materials
-  X-Acto knife
- White cardboard OR brown cardboard and white paint to cover.
- Dots: Black Sharpie marker/Paint marker OR Black Round sticker/paper
- Duck tape or Glue gun ( if you need o attach anything)
- Pick your theme.

1. It's good to start off with a sketch on a piece of paper to brainstorm accessories you need. Just remember to keep the drawing iconic and simple.

A girl walking in the rain accessories:
- Umbrella
- Rain boots
- Bow(hair piece)

Optional decoration for photos:
- Clouds
- Teardrops

Fisherman:
- Bucket Hat
- Fishing Vest
- Fishing Rod
- Fish

2. We spend extra time to paint the cardboard with white paint but you can always buy white cardboard at craft store to save time. For dots, decide on the size of the circle and cut out samples from papers from your recycling box(Circle Craft Punch will be handy here). Use them as guideline to place where dots should be.

NOTE : At least have an inch border around dotted lines so you have space to write numbers later on.

3. You can draw in some details to your accessories to give more information. To keep it simple dots are mainly used outline of the shape.

TIP : Sharpie Perm. Marker is good if you don't have too much accessories to make. But the amount we had, Sharpie Paint Marker was handy. Paint Marker are more opaque and quicker to color in circles. Another option is cut out circles with black construction paper and glue on the board.

4. Once dots are colored in, decided where the numbers starts. Keep in mind to write the numbers outside the dotted lines.

I have a friend who loves minion from Despicable Me and I've also been loving these cute little yellow nuggets. He had an unique idea to make Halloween costume with illusion of a minion carrying banana box while having you in the box. I just had to be part of this!

So here are progress shots of how it was made.
