1  Re: Can't Get Enough Disney Swap! in The Swap Gallery by wakmeifimdreamin on: July 08, 2011 12:04:44 PM
I got my package from v3nu5 a few days ago but I finally have time to post pictures!  Here we go!

A group shot of all the wonderful treasures.  When I got it, everything was wrapped up in it's own colorful tissue paper with a little note:

I loooooove Kingdom Hearts so she made me some kingdom hearts treasure, complete with their own treasure box.  Close-up:

Then some hair bobbles inspired by Mulan with kanzashi hair flowers:

A gorgeous beauty and the beast rose and matching bracelet:

DOry, Doug and Cowgirl Jesse bowls (I couldn't fit all three into a decent picture):

Adorable Mickey Mouse picture holder:

Some sweet Jack Sparrow earrings:

And, the grand finale, a t-shrit with Sora from Kingdom Hearts, stenciled in the Steamboat Willy cartoon style (it also has some extra Disney patches sewn on):

Thank you so much v3nu5!  You are a superstar!!

2  Lacey Choker in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by wakmeifimdreamin on: February 13, 2009 09:19:23 PM
Hi, I'm pretty sure this goes here.  I'm just gonna go for it.

I've been very inspired by lolita fashion lately and I had this crazy paisley corduroy sitting around so I decided to make a choker from a pattern I got from this website:  http://sweety.jp/gothic/sewing/index.html

I think it turned out pretty well, I will probably replace the cord with ribbon in the end, but I liek it and it's comfortable.  It snaps in the back.  Tell me what you think.

p.s. I just got a job in the costume shop at my school and I got to use a surger for the first time on Wednesday.  I'm obsessed!  It's so much fun!

3  cute googley eyed kitty kat in Knitting: Completed Projects by wakmeifimdreamin on: July 05, 2008 02:01:48 PM
This is the fastest thing I have ever knitted up.  I was bored and put-out after a tragic trip to Joann Fabrics to get my sewing machine fixed, so to cheer myself up I knitted this little kitty.  I stuffed her with scrap fabric and glued felt on to her base.  Easy but very cute.  She's sitting in the kitchen now, playing with the spices.

she fits fight in my hand:

This last picture is her sitting on the fabric I bought that day.  It is now a pretty skirt and an in-progress top.

Thanks for looking!

4  Silky Scraggly Lips Chair in CHALLENGE 28 ENTRIES by wakmeifimdreamin on: June 03, 2008 06:16:44 AM
At the end of the school year, the art seniors at my school get to paint their own chair so they will be remembered for years to come by the bottoms of their fellows.  I decided to do something a little bit different and upholster one of our wooden school chairs.  I grabbed one that was partially carved into that noone could use for painting and set to work.

here was the idea:

and here was the 80s magenta prom dress my boyfriend wore for our English class video:

I sewed the lips first, then attached teeth made of scrap canvas.  The tongue was next, made from scrap neon pink spandex that I think we used to make my princess dress in 4th grade. Finally, I stapled it all to the chair with great enthusiasm.

The end result:

an action shot:

And finally, covered in drool (snatched from the lining of Dress Monstrosity):

5  Green Hand Recycle Lamp in CHALLENGE 27 ENTRIES by wakmeifimdreamin on: May 05, 2008 07:50:09 PM
I made this woodblock earlier in the year when I was using hands as my focus area in IB art class.  I really like it, it's like the hand of god from the sistine chapel (I made an ironic women's restroom sign from it earlier in the semester).  I thought it would look really cool backlit, so I decided to use it for the lamp challenge.

Sorting through the woodblock ink I found this great bright green so I put two and two together and made a lamp depicting the hand of god, commanding humanity to recycle in bright, earth-friendly green.  The paper is reused from a different use in my class, too, so I guess that's even better than recycling.  It was really fun to go pick out a kit and a lightblub and look at all the lighting nuances the hardware store had to offer.  I had a great time!

this was my experiment print

and the leftover materials.  I didn't get any process pics Sad  I did a lot of the artistic work at school and electrical stuff in a flurry in my basement.

6  Atashi for Anime Detour in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by wakmeifimdreamin on: March 29, 2008 11:18:48 AM
So, I've decided to stop lurking and post something.  I made this to go with a cosplay my cousin and I are doing for this anime convention next weekend that we and our friends go to every year.  It's from the manga series Chobits and it's sort of a foreshadowing device in the story but in my life it's just a cute felt bunny rabbit.  Here it is:

and a close up:

That last picture is atashi just hanging out with puuchuu (from the anime series Excel saga, that I turned from a hat into a stuffed animal) and a blue samurai guy who likes to hold my stitch holders.

I might post pictures of the cosplay and everything when we're done with it.  I'm making a second atashi for my cousin and actually taking pictures of the process so I might be able to put on a tutorial later, the first one was really trial-and-error (and probably not the most convenient way of making it, ah well, ah well.)

Whew - done with my first topic post ever.  Anyway, thanks for looking!
