1  Akrivestery Gothic Overdress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Bereft on: August 19, 2010 02:04:11 AM
So a few months ago, while my darn serger was in the shoppe for the 2nd time (the thing has given me nothing but problems), i decided if I couldn't make anything for etsy, I'd make myself something nice. So I looked through my stockpile of patterns, and chose the Gothic Overdress pattern Simplicity's Akrivestery line 2757. I made it out of this cotton twill I've had in my stash forever. I didn't do the lacing, but opted for a separating zipper instead, and because the length of the zipper was a few inches longer than the end of the pattern bodice, I elongated the bodice. I also didn't hem it, but waited until i got my serger back and serged it for a more raw look. The bodice also took alot of fitting because all the big commercial pattern companies work alot of ease into their patterns. I forgot why I don't use them.
Anyway, without further adieu, the pictures!

When I get an action shot, I'll post it, It looks alot better on me than one my twig of a mannequin.
And of course I where a skirt underneath, for modesty's sake.

2  Batsday 2010 in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Bereft on: August 08, 2010 04:25:55 PM
So for this years Batsday in the Fun Park ( for those of you who may not know, it is Goth day at Disneyland) I made wonderful matching Victorian gowns for me and my best friend, mine was made out of black taffeta we got in L.A. for 3.50/yd and a deep red shot with black taffeta for hers for the same price. Now I was under alot of stress making 2 dresses at once with a two month deadline, but I did it. And the night before, we all had a great gothy sleepover at my place, and as I was sewing the buttons on hers, practically done with the dress, she told me she wasn't going to wear it. And my little world crumbled. I atleast got to wear mine, but I was sad that she had no intrest in wearing something I worked so hard to make her for basically no compensation.

Anyway, it was still a fun day, and I got many compliments on my dress, so I was happy. I used Truly Victorian patterns for all of it even the petticoat that I didnt get pics of. Anywhoo on to the pics!

3  Victorian Zombie for Zombie Walk LB in Costumes: Completed Projects by Bereft on: August 08, 2010 03:51:05 PM
So last year's Long Beach Zombie Walk (I know its a little late) I made these Victorian Zombie Costumes for me and my ex. The best and worst part about it was that I got to ruin all my hard work by throwing blood and rubbing dirt on it. But the end effect was worth it, I think!

Us looking like fools with some other Zombies we met.

And the only back shot we got that night, of us mobbing the city bus.

Anywho, let me know what you think, and have a wonderous day!

4  First post, Bloomers, and Skull Cami(Image chubbs) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Bereft on: August 06, 2010 06:12:22 PM
Okay, its about time I posted something, seeing as I've been lurking around for 2 years and haven't made a peep.

So I made this little cami out of some nice cotton knit with cute little skulls printed on it. Its trimmed with pretty black lace.

I also made these really cute little bloomers. The fabric is from Joann's Debbie Mumm ahoy matey collection, and has a cute lace ruffle. I love the stripeys!

So yay! there's my first post. There will be more to come soon. Thanks for looking, hope your day is wonderful!
