i thought it would be so simple to make, with the hardest part being the ruffles.  but there was just one disaaster after another and after a while i was wondering if really liked the dress enough to finish. 

disaster number 1.  when cutting lower white part and also cut the already sewn blue part... a huge chunk right out of the front AND back of the dress.  lesson learned: never sew when youre too tired to move fabric that doesnt need to be cut. so there are random seams everywhere... luckily theyre not too noticable.
the top part was the only part that was going well, but as soon as i sewed the botton half on it got too tight and i couldnt even fit it over my shoulders.  then when top stitching the chest part i messed up.... hence the ruffles to cover it up.  and that was not the last of my problems....

but at least i have something to show for it

i made this doll for my boyfriend just for fun.  i bought a talking christmas tree ornament that lets you record your voice.  i recorded myself saying two of my favorite phrases, which im not going to share because you wont understand and just think im wierd!

then i put the ornament in a doll i sewed together and put some accessories on it.  im sorry you cant hear it talk... thats the best part

this is me.  


i love colors and im always wearing colorful things, so my doll of course had to be colorful too!



she wears a nametag that says chantel because at my job thats the nametag they gave me, and everyone thought it was hilarious.

this is the finished project:



1.  trace the ipod and cut out two outlines.  make them a little bigger than the ipod itself.


2.  using tracing paper, trace the screen and circle of  the ipod
 

3.  place the tracing paper over one of the ipod outlines you cut out and center it
 

4.  cut out the screen and circle


5.  draw the outline for the screen and circle  like so


6.  draw short dotted lines around the two ipod outlines.  make sure they are not too close to the edge and not too close to each other.


7.  cut slits where the lines are.

8.  lace ribbon throught the slits


9. tie bows on the end and voila!

i sewed powerpuff girls costumes for me and my two friends so i thought id share....



unfortunatly, bubbles was wasted so we couldnt get a decent picture of the three of us together

i wasnt going to post this because its nothing too special.  however, last night i droped my ipod from THE 4TH FLOOR FIRE ESCAPE and someone on the street threw it up to me and it still works!!!!!  im not sure if this is normal or an act of god, but i think i owe it all to my super durable starburst ipod case.  its been on for many months and is still holding up, so here it is. 






the color scheme isnt so great but i love it anyway!

how does one make such a durable ipod holder?
1.  wrap the ipod in tape so that the sticky part is outwards.
2.  cut out all the spots where the dial and the face of the ipod is
3.  cover the ipod in starburst wrappers
4.  cut out a little piece of plastic, like clear paper protectors, for the screen
5.  cover in tape

i never realized how hard it is to take pictures of your clothes.  i did the best i could but im still not happy with the way they came out.  i need to hire a photographer or something.

these two skirts were made from simplicity pattern # 4705.  its a really good pattern!!!! the only trouble i had with it was when i wanted to shorten the ruffle skirt and i had no idea what to do.... i ended up taking off an inch from each ruffle, it was a little wierd to do but it came out well.

i made these three skirts without a pattern.  i also made the top in the last picture with the twisty top tutorial here on craftster.  i dont have an undershirt for it yet, so i apologize for my bra.   













and lastly, heres a pair of shoes i made.  i got them from payless and sewed the fabric and sequins on.

you should go to lenny's alice and wonderland site (just google it) he has lot of pictures from the movie.  you can make them into a stencil with word or something.  or ill do it for you because im really bored at the moment

i am really happy with this, especially since its my first skirt using a pattern. (vogue 8003)  it had to be white.










the only problem is i cant find a top to go with it.  if any one sees one, pattern or store bought, id love to see it.  i havent found anything i like so far.
