I'm looking for color suggestions. I'll be using DMC brand.
I've not worked with metallic thread yet ... I'm want to try some small stuff with that & see how that goes first. Iw as thinking on some of the feathers like maybe a few in the upper tier, doing 1 strand of metallic & 1 strand or reg. thread. Any one tired this?

Also anyother suggestion, a flour scak towel ok to be framed?

Thanks for any tips or imput.

9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Stringing drying peppers ?? on: December 16, 2004 02:21:44 PM
Hello ... I was just given a flat (12 pounds) of BEAUTIFUL very hot red peppers. (a friend of mine works in a distellery & therese are used in make inferno vodka) they are impeccable grown in holland  & hand picked, perfect like a picture. My first thought was to dry themiin the oven & make peper flakes but these are SO pretty....  I csan't do it.
So How do I make those pepper chains?  or strings?      I'd like to make a bunch of smallish ones with a dozzen of so peppers on each   to give as gifts to my aunts.

Thanks for any help, links or sugestions!

UPDATE:  I FOUND THIS:   Ristras are those strands of dried peppers hanging in many southwestern kitchens. They make a great decoration and are an excellent way to dry your peppers. To make a ristra, hold a cluster of three chiles by the stem as you wrap a string around the stems a few times. Make a half hitch to secure the cluster and just repeat the process until you've used up all your peppers.

Another way to make a ristra is to use a needle to thread the stems of each pepper so that you form a spiral with the peppers. Drying peppers on ristras usually takes a few weeks.       ** So what is a half hitch?
