1  Laptop Sleeve in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by JessJezzz on: January 11, 2009 04:21:59 PM
I like to take my laptop with me to classes, but if I'm going somewhere else and want to take it, or if I have to carry more than usual, I like to take something besides my briefcase-like laptop bag, usually a tote. However, I'm always worried the laptop will get damaged since there isn't as much cushioning - the solution, of course, being a laptop sleeve. I was going to buy one, but I instead decided to use some of the lovely canvas I got from Ikea and a few of my fat quarters to make my own. It also gave me a chance to try out the new serger I got for Christmas!

Here it is turned inside out so you can see the lining. I just used a couple of fat quarters I had in my stash.

Right-side out, with the flap undone. I was going to have a loop to go around this big cute button, but instead I decided to just make it decorative and use a snap instead - one side of the snap is sew onto the flap, the other glued onto the back of the button. You can also see my new photo box - 2 pieces of foam board and 4 book lights from Dollar Tree, and you have yourself a clean background and much improved lighting for photography!

I finished the flap with the serger stitching visible, I rather like how it looks - I was also careful to line up the heart pattern to make it look extra nice. In case you're wondering, I used iron-on fleece as well as quilt batting - both left over from previous projects.

2  Bar Cards to Lampshade in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by JessJezzz on: August 31, 2008 05:03:02 PM
So when I went to visit my friend in St. Louis for Spring Break, I made this.  I haven't posted it yet because I accidentally left it there and haven't gotten it back until now!

I sewed sets of 3 of the longer bar cards together (the ones that say "I'm So Techno"), then sewed two of those strips together 4 times.

I cut slits in the base and inserted the other cards, then glued (or taped with double-sided tape- I tried both and don't remember which worked better and therefor which I used the most) them to one another.

Pardon my mess. Lips sealed

Thanks for looking!

3  Re: COLLEGE FINALS CARE PACKAGE SWAP GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by JessJezzz on: June 03, 2008 12:03:15 PM
Sorry for the delay!  Now that I'm all unpacked in my new apartment, I can show off my swap goods in all of their crafty glory!

First up are some knitted (or crocheted, I'm not sure which) 'scrubbies'.

I keep some in the medicine cabinet to wash my face with...

...and a few by the sink that I use for washing dishes.  They work wonderfully for both!

My amazing swap partner took an old t-shirt and some bleach and made it into this awesome creation.  It now resides above the dining room table.

She also painted me this, which I hung in my kitchen.

I loved what I got in the swap!  Thanks so much!
