1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / What are your favorite hostess gifts? on: June 16, 2008 11:04:14 AM
This may not be the right board for the topic, I'm not sure. I was wondering what some of y'alls favorite hostess gifts to give and/or receive are... =) I've never actually given or received any because those opportunities unfortunately haven't come up yet... but I think it's cute, and am planning on starting to give them fairly soon, and was just looking for some creative ideas or classic favorites. Thanks!  Smiley
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / creative packaging ideas...? on: October 09, 2007 11:46:56 AM
Do any of you guys have ideas for creative wrapping paper/embellishment ideas? Besides stamping with potatoes - hahaha! I really want to make my packages look pretty this year, but the only thing I can come up with is using newspaper (possibly the personal ads or something) and then using a bright ribbon for the contrast. I'm also handmaking all my tags.
Hmm... this just seems so basic, though. If you guys would help me out, that'd be fantastic! I know it's kinda early to be thinking about wrapping, but I figure if it's not too early to think of the actual gifts, why NOT think about packaging, as well?  Cheesy
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / First posted project - tags! =) on: September 22, 2007 09:41:57 PM
So this is the first "project" I've posted here on Craftster. I made these awhile ago, and just didn't have a camera to take pictures of them. They're super simple, but I like how they turned out.  Smiley I used old story books for the shoemaker ones. I'm not exactly sure what to do with them, however, as nobody I know really appreciates handmade things.   Undecided

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / 15 year old brother's gift on: September 21, 2007 05:11:59 PM
So, my brother's birthday is coming up - he'll be 15. I'm currently in college, and so I don't have $. Therefore, I'd like to make him something. The problem is, I really like the IDEA of crafting, but I haven't done a whole lot of it - and I can't knit/crochet. Don't have access to a sewing machine, either. Also, have y'all noticed that often crafting something turns out more expensive than buying it because supplies cost so much?! Anyhow, that was just a little rant...

So my brother is homeschooled, doesn't get out much, really likes playing runescape online (dunno if any of y'all have heard of it...? It's like a fantasy game), the chronicles of narnia books, Brian Jacques books - he likes to read fantasy. He liked the lord of the rings movies, as well.  He's really interested in learning about mythical creatures/rituals/whatever. Um, he likes garfield. He likes the show 'the office', and the 'savage chickens' comics. He laughs at jokes that he doesn't get. haha. He likes playing board games and card games when he's bored.

I dunno, I'm really stuck on cheap gift ideas, especially because he's a boy, and they're so much harder to buy for!

He really wants facial hair and a deep voice NOW. haha. It's so cute. That's all I can think of. Any ideas? Any at all? He might like a "___ in a box" gift, I'm just not sure on a theme. I wouldn't want to get into a "magic" theme as I'm afraid it would get too spiritual, and my family is Christian. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks so much, y'all!
5  UNITED STATES / Michigan / craft bazaars in grand rapids-ish area (I think) coming up.... on: November 06, 2005 06:45:08 PM
Hey, I've seen in the 'advance' that a few craft fairs are coming up, and I was just wondering if any of y'all were planning on selling there, or if anyone's been to em in the past and could lemme know if they were grandma shows or if they had cute stuff. Smiley

one of em that really caught my eye was the "26th annual christmas bazaar, on nov. 18 & 19, at "conklin kc hall"....  but, i've never heard of conklin before and was wondering where on earth it is.....? like, around grand rapids or WAY out there? lol

also, the 22nd annual union high school craft bazaar...

and some "holiday boutique" at calvary christian reformed church... on byron center, in wyoming.

Just wanted y'alls' thoughts/opinions.....

Thanks! =)

6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / How often do ya'll update your websites? on: October 10, 2004 11:08:34 AM
I was just wondering about how often you guys update your websites... as in, adding new products and such. And how long do you keep products on the website if they're not selling? Do you just leave them on until they do, or take them off and relist later?....
