61  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: A Monster on the Rocks on: January 28, 2008 05:24:26 PM
You have that John Murphy book, don't you?  I made one just like your Syd, but his name is Hemingway and he's gray.

Yep - you got it!  I find it's a great jumping off point - I had never made any stuffed toys before, and now I'm obsessed (and also starting to branch out from socks, with mixed success).

Oh WOW!!  That green necklace especially is awesome & unbelievable.

What happened to Syd?? Poor Syd! He was to cute to die!

I prefer to think of him as traveling the world, wreaking cute monster havoc.  The picture with him & his friend (Sally) is taken on a ledge, with rocks underneath, then Puget Sound.  The next picture shows what happened when the wind came & blew Syd & Sally off the ledge.  It was just too far to climb down & retrieve them, alas.  So Syd is on the rocks, probably now swept into the Sound.  Sally herself blew right into the sound (actually, my photo, if you look VERY closely, you can see a little red dot. . . that's Sally making her way out to sea).    It was pretty sad.

This is a little monster I made for a friend in Seattle.  We took some pictures of him (and one of his friends) out & about.  Then. . . tragedy struck, and he had to be left in the Sound.   Cry  His name was Syd Delicious, and he shall be missed

65  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Help! I want to make a bluescary. . . on: January 26, 2008 10:01:38 AM
OK, bluescary, like blueberry but with angry cartoon eyebrows and fangs.  I have a friend who loves blueberries, and bought a bunch when she came to visit me. . . then left them at mine!   Good for me, bad for her.

So,basically, I just need to know how to make a sphere out of felt.  And any tips on working with felt (as I've not don it before) wouldn't go amiss either.  I looked on the tutorials on Craftster, but didn't see one I thought could easily be modified for an inexperienced one like myself.

Thoughts?

Thank you!

68  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 2008 12" Squares ~ JAN on: January 18, 2008 10:50:55 PM
oooohhh. . . I hope this isn't rude. . . I WANT these.   I like our Mother Earth, so I try to use reusable dishcloths.  Sad truth is, I couldn't make them myself (yeah, great, I make lovely earrings, and monsters out of socks, but really, why?).  But I look at those and feel envy.   Yeah, it's a sin.  But can I get some of those lovely, lovely, useful clothes?
69  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Kinda proud of this one... on: January 16, 2008 08:09:00 PM
Oh my goodness, I love how bright & fun it is.
70  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: A bunch of woven necklaces! (picture heavy) on: January 16, 2008 07:57:22 PM
I make jewelry myself. . . I am really impressed with this!  It looks amazing, and must have been a lot of hard work (though well worth it, I'd say).
