2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: i need a big uterus. on: June 13, 2010 01:30:38 PM
veggiechef, you are the bomb.

i had seen lovely_enigma's ute, but it just seemed too teeny-tiny for a nice bag.

i love the pear idea- i would never have freakin' thought of that.

and yeah, there will be pictures.

thank you so much!
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / i need a big uterus. on: June 12, 2010 10:27:10 PM
i really hope my subject line caught some attention, i would really love some help with this project!

i'm making my roommate who lost an ovary this year a nice shoulder bag. that's a uterus. with one happy face ovary and one zombie ovary to give to her when i move back in with her at the end of the summer.

so, the only thing i need from you guys is a little advice on how to shape a uterus bag so that it is a uterus- i am a queer boy with no idea how a uterus would be recognizable in craft form!

i checked ravelry and the forums here, and i did find a "snatchel" on the anticraft, but i really want to make a bigger one!

so, advice, fun ovary facts, disparaging remarks regarding my sense of humor?

thanks!

6  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Discussion and Questions / Re: ami design help- cat in the hat hat on: July 12, 2009 09:57:23 PM
i actually am done the body, having done it all in one piece, except the top of the hat.

it'll probably be up tomorrow.

<3 henson.

the dinosaur hat is so goofy! and your kermit is p-r-i-c-e-l-e-s-s.

keep up the good work!
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: crochet jacket on tv last night... on: July 09, 2009 01:59:08 PM
:pulls out copy of stitch and bitch happy hooker:

it's more than likely either a (slightly modified) fishnet stitch, or even a crossed stitch. both are pretty easy to do!

you can probably find instructions on how to do both via the inter-webs, and just do a couple test swatches to see which you prefer, or which matches up better. good luck!

SyFy for life. even if it a pretentious silly name change.
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: casting off? on: July 09, 2009 01:51:51 PM
i'm pretty sure it just wants you to slip to the point where you need to continue building, and then just crochet back and forth on there, not having to go back over the slip stitches.

that would end up being pretty silly as the piece continued to grow, with you returning to where you're already off.

but that pattern is pretty silly to begin with, real hard to read.

GOOD LUCK! i hope to see the finished product!
10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Discussion and Questions / ami design help- cat in the hat hat on: July 09, 2009 01:48:03 PM
i'm oin the pit for a production of seussical (if you happen to live in central maryland, it's at carroll community college next weekend! http://www.geocities.com/treeoflifetroupe/. end of plug) and i'm making my dear director a stuffed cat in the hat hat. and i'm having a little bit of a mind block trying to design it.

what i'm thinking; starting from the bottom, and crocheting a pretty big circle. doing a few rows of single crochet, then closing back up the circle to a certain point. tubing the body of the hat with sc, then, once it's to height, close the rest of the circle, stuffing in between.

does that sound like it's going to work? i'm trying not to crash and burn.

thanks!
