ok, here's what hit me in the middle of the night:
I'm going to get some sculpy clay stuff (the kind that air dries that you don't have to bake) and make little red circles about the size of a quarter but a little thicker. I'm then going to put two small holes in the top (probably with a chopstick or similar size object) Then I will put the sculpy circles in a ziplock.
In class I'll have each of the kids put their thumbprint sideways and then sideways the other way into the clay medalion, this will make the shape of a heart in their kids thumbprint. Then each kid will have a piece of ribbon to lace through the medallion. I'm planning on punching to holes in a construction paper card so it can display their beautiful piece of art and it can serve as the valentines day card as well. Anyway...that is my perfect plan, I'll post pictures if it works
I honestly don't think in all my 34 years of life that I've watched a football game. My husband is from Louisiana though and as soon as I found out that the Saints were in the bowl, I was on a mission to throw a great party for him!
The invites: These I made using a graphic i found online and I put my husbands head on the football player for an added smile
Food: I made a smple cherry pie football using pre-made pie dough and cherry pie filling, I dumped the filling in, put the top on and cut out a football shape then put some slits and extra dough on the side and topped with egg white and sugar
These football truffles were a huge hit, I got the idea and recipe from http://www.bakerella.com it is oreos and creamcheese mixed together then dumped in chocolate
bought these because i didn't have time to make them
and I made a humongous pot of chili and hubby made sliders
I'm in the same boat...I'm in charge of the craft that the kids will make for the school party. I really feel like I've looked everywhere! One idea I'm tossing around is to make some simple heart pillows and having the kids decorate each one. I'm thinking this might be messy though and i can't use paint or anything...Another idea I'm thinking of doing is to have the kids decorate and make a valentines card for their moms (or whomever they want). I'd really love to think of something darling and a keepsake that they can make and we can wrap and send home with them...but I don't know....Martha has some good ideas on her site but they are all pretty detailed. She does have a bracelet that would be cute to make and give but I'm not sure my first graders could do all those knots.
anyway I know I didn't help much...have you decided what you're doing?
I'd like to add that I was EXTREMELY low on funds so all of the fabric things were made from my fabric stash.
My 16 year old daughter and I gave a party for her stepmom While it did feel odd throwing a party for my exhusband and his wife, I just looooove doing parties so I jumped at the chance of being artsy Thank you to the person who posted the onesie idea, it was a HUGE hit
at first people were VERY leary about going to the table. It was a come and go shower so i told everyone instead of cheesy games we were all making things for the baby to take home. I had a huge basket of fabric paint, sharpies and some pre-made appliques that I made. When people said 'oh, I'm not creative!' I just pointed to the appliques and iron and they were glad they could make something so easily! One lady even called the new mom after the shower and wanted a blank onesie to decorate at home Even the little kids were wanting to make one
for the shower favors I made tissue holders out of all different girlie prints I had
I got the tissues at dollar tree, they came in a pack of 12 for a dollar. Then i got some cello bags (20 for $1) and put a candle in and made a tag on word thanking them
for the baby I made a diaper bag with matching bath towel and changing pad
and some bib/burper/washcloth sets
anyway, I hope this helps everyone, I came here often for ideas and want to thank everyone who posted baby shower ideas that I used!
This is a perfect time for a pink party because of valentines day being so close!! I saw some super cute plastic champagne glasses at dollar tree that would be absolutely darling with some pink or black (or a mix) of m&m's in them!
Find some darling pictures of her when she was a baby (bare butt pictures or her playing dress up) and blow them up on a photo program then frame them (dollar tree has some awesome frames) and put them at all the tables
personalized napkins really dont' cost that much and are a very special touch.
Tiny little bottles of nail polish would be cute wrapped in tulle with a little 'Hope you had a glamourous time at XXXXX's party" tag attached
You could print off 'Best Singer' "best dancer" "most original toenail design" reward certificates and give those at the end of the party
You could mix a cd of all of your neices favorite songs and play it during the party. Make a bunch of copies, decorate the jewel case (using any print program) and give a copy out to each guest
If you can sew or find some big pink pillows for super cheap that would be a cute thing for everyone to sign and take home and keep!
you can't go wrong by wrapping tulle in with blinking christmas lights and have it hanging in certain places. It really does add instant magic! If you have some safe places to put them, candles everywhere would be pretty too.
another cute idea would be to have rose petals all over the tables and floor, you can get big bags of these at the store right now too
hope some of those ideas helped, I will post more if some more ideas hit me
