21  Re: Wall Art Swap 2 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by murbeck on: November 02, 2010 07:24:46 AM
Hi ladies  Smiley  Whyfish received my package a few weeks ago so I am going to go ahead and post since she hasn't gotten to yet.  She had mentioned that she really likes De Stijl, which I admit I had to google, but I decided to go outside my element and work with that.  I thought this would be a really great theme to try out mosaic on since it's all geometrical, and also I was really inspired by her overall style after stalking her so I used mirrors as part of the "blocks" so she is part of the art.  I know, cheesy  Cheesy

Anyway, here it is!  I hope ya'll approve  Wink

oh and I used black grout to make the lines more prominent, the flash kind of washed the color out making it just look dirty, lol, but I assure you it's a lot darker  Smiley

25  Re: Crazy for Christmas! Gallery in The Swap Gallery by murbeck on: August 11, 2010 05:51:10 AM
Yay, I'm so glad it got there finally!  WOO HOO!  I forgot to mention in the card that the tree's little white dots, glow in the dark  Smiley
Yes, some of the salt dough I added some paint into the dough itself to get it that way, like the green on the tree and the pink star (though, it was a way different color paint Undecided ).  here's some pictures I snapped before sending off...

The Merry Christmas Banner made from collected cards from years past...

This is what I need to collect more cards for so I can make one for myself  Wink

A cotton & breezy (since it's warm at Christmas there) hat with crocheted holly attached.  Why does red photograph so rotten!?  Roll Eyes

All 3 stockings, including Bambii's

All the ornaments, before the bells got tangled (I knew that was going to happen  Embarrassed)

I am so glad we agreed on 5 points and VERY glad that we exchanged yummies!!!!  Grin  (hope you don't mind that I posted more pics...)

I really do love those spoon ornaments, I never realized that spoons were the shape of big Christmas bulbs!  I am so trying that.  The nativity box is really sweet too and the tags are pretty (love the glitter balls on the holly!)

So, I received from our fabulous Bambii8899 yesterday, she did SO awesome!
We did agree on 5 points, though I think I am quite spoiled!!!!

Here's the entire lot:

my new ADORABLE felt owl ornaments

Minties candies, 3 of the 5 napkin/napkin rings, candy cane ornaments, snowman with golden ring ornament and to the far right you can see a bit of the candle, I think it's supposed to be figgy pudding?  Whatever it is not only is it cute but it smells SOOOOOOOOO YUMMY!!!!!!!!

the other 2 napkins, pineapple lumps, the most amazing chocolate that's almost gone and my favorite part of the swap- my new stocking!!!!  I'm not sure how she did the bears and stuff, but it's really cool...

and my favorite part of my favorite thing... BEAR BUTTS on the back of the stocking!!!!!  Cheesy  LOL!  So cute

thank you so much bambii, I can't believe that this was your first swap!!!!

27  for my little rock star niece in Knitting: Completed Projects by murbeck on: July 30, 2010 08:46:54 AM
After my niece picked out not only chucks (such a great taste) but neon green & orange chucks, I was inspired to make her some really hot fingerless gloves for Christmas this year.  I already wanted to make these gloves for her, but these colors really make me happy  Smiley  I hope she loves them!

I used the Stripe It Up Fingerless Gloves pattern on ravelry.  Free!

28  raven art in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by murbeck on: July 09, 2010 06:02:14 AM
I do believe that this is my first posted paper crafted item!   Smiley  I'm starting to get around!  Wink

Anyway, this was for the Woodland Creature Swap.  My partner listed Ravens as one of her favorite woodland creatures.  I took a pretty raven-in-a-tree sillhouette and took an exacto knife to it.  Then I put it against the glass in a frame that has depth and put a dark green sheet of cardstock in the back (where the photo would go) for contrast and voila!  I am quite happy with the results and am considering doing something like this for my own wall  Smiley

29  crocheted deer bowl in Crochet: Completed Projects by murbeck on: July 09, 2010 05:45:41 AM
Made this for the Woodland Creatures Swap.  It's crocheted with 2 strands of worsted weight yarn, 1 blue + 1 green.  Then I cut out a deer from felt and stitched it onto the bowl.  I LOVE how it came out!  The deer didn't photograph well, but it's in sort of a prancing position and I swear it looks cute in real life  Wink

thanks for looking!

P.S. if you want to try and make one (so easy) then it's the Adirondack Bowl on ravelry.

I received from zombie on friday, but I've been laid up with viral pharyngitis so I'm just now getting around to posting the pics.

Here's the whole lot, main focal point being the wood sheet cutout of a moose in the woods, a pretty scene straight from my wist.

And here's a closeup of the magnetic note pad (which has the acorn and owl stamped on every other page) as well as a little clay owl magnet.  So cute!

thank you zombie!
