111  Finally got my sewing desk! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by murbeck on: June 07, 2008 05:32:44 PM
I've been looking for a cheap ugly little desk at the thrift stores to refinish and I finally found it  Grin  Paid $18.50 for it.  I painted it, cut up squares of scrapbooking paper to look like tiles, decoupaged them on top and upholstered the drawers and of course gave it new hardware.  Here are my very proud results.  It took me about 2 days to complete.  PLEASE tell me you love it as much as I do.  I'm so FREAKING proud!

Before (I almost forgot to take before pics!

After (in progress first)

112  Re: Ghost Hunters Gallery! - SEND BY MAY 30th! in The Swap Gallery by murbeck on: June 07, 2008 10:09:17 AM
I got mine in the mail!  I was so excited I ran out and met the mail lady by her truck  Grin

Okay picture time:

here's my dogs sniffing out the new scents invading their house while I ran to get the camera

pillow cases, the one on the left has a glow in the dark ghost- that one's going on MY pillow!  Wink

me pimping out my new tee... did I think I looked cool?  Whoa, that's embarrasing.  And WHAT is going on with Remington's eye?!!!  Maybe it's a reflection of a ghost he's seeing!!!!  Shocked

my rad new sketchbook... along with the junk mail that came with the package but wound up on the floor in my fit of excitement while tearing into the package  Tongue

a cool new box to keep treasures in (everything but the sketchbook was found in here too:

an emf detector, which I couldn't seem to get the wording on it to show up, but you can see it a little bit in the next pic...

the emf detector opens up and has yummies inside!  Cheesy

please excuse the mess in my house, I actually cleaned it this morning, but then took it over with my desk redoing project...

Anyway, thanks Rira- you've been a fun partner, truly!  Grin

113  it's the small things in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by murbeck on: June 02, 2008 05:26:56 AM
I made my first real article of clothing from scratch yesterday!!!  I used Simplicity 3750, but wound up having to alter it slightly.  I used size 16, because that's what my measurements matched up to... I was even worried that the waist would be too small, but when I got done it huge!  So, I took it in 6 inches down the back seam and that wound up changing the neckline, but I absolutely love the new look of it!!!!  I'm very proud of myself.  My MIL works for Lowes and whenever they have clearance items she always looks through them and looks for deals on tools and stuff for me but they had plaid curtains and called my DH and told him about them (they were $2 per panel) and he had me call her and I told her to get me $10 of varying colors and I used 1 panel to make my shirt!  Yaaaay!  I'm so glad it worked out!  I'm wearing it today at work even, and I don't feel like it's gonna fall apart.  It took me waaaaay longer to make that it should have, it's supposed to be an easy pattern, but I can say that I learned A LOT!!!  I'll be trying this pattern again, maybe with sleeve options and I think I'll be much  more confident next time  Smiley  Okay, enough with the blabbing, here's the shirt!

why am I sticking my butt out?!   Roll Eyes

Anyway, I hope you're as proud of me as I am!

Wooooot!!!  I recieved today!

I opened the box to see 2 huge packages of TimTams, I couldn't stop smiling  Grin  There was also a Cadbury Boost bar, which is sitting in the freezer right now because it felt like mush from the heat.  I tried 1 of the Timtams just now though, and oh my gosh is that good!!!!!

underneath that was some decorated filler

There was a drawing on the otherside too, but for the sake of saving room for photos, I'll omit  Smiley  It was an outline of a drawing that I'll show in a bit anyway

Shocked  okay so without further adeu:
Have any of you seen the shadow box that MissMelissa made for her friend that was a hot topic for a couple days?  Well she did one for me too!!!!!
Bare with me while I try to show you the depth of this thing:

There are so many dimensions in there!!!!  She made multiple copies of pictures she took, cut them all out and layered them ontop of each other!  It's awesome I tell ya!!!!  No photo could do justice  Smiley

And then there's this little piccy she made for me... almost resembles me too!!  Really neat, I'm gonna hang it up at my desk at work!  I wish I could get a better photo of it, it's super pretty

And here are a few of my fave photos she took:

oh for pete's sake- bare with me... I'm having a hard time with photobucket and my slow computer and my retardism getting in the way... will modify again shortly

okay, let's try this again.

This is just so cool!!!  It's a rooftop bar?!  Niiiiiice

Sorry there're so many, it was hard to narrow down, I also love the Pixar lamp and ball and the pebbles, and all the wildlife and, and, and....  well, check out the rest of this ones she sent me and you'll see  Wink http://s287.photobucket.com/albums/ll126/CraftsterPhotoSwap/To%20Murbeck%20From%20Missmelissa/

Thanks MissMelissa, this was awesome & I'm thrilled with my package!  Smiley

LMAO!!!!  I LOVE the 420 guys!!!  That's great, I'd give em $$$- I'll bet they make a lot that way!  I've seen a guy do something like that for liquor, but this is even better  Cheesy  That's some amazing graffiti too

Anyway, MissMelissa said she felt bad that my package is taking so long to get to me so she gave me a teaser.  Thought I'd share the pic as even the teaser pics are gorgeous!

I know what you mean with getting no sleep, and sulkycat, it's definitely an addiction.  Somedays at work it's hard to get anything done because it's all you think about!!!!  It is nice right now though because I get a lot of crafting done while DH plays  Smiley  I haven't actually read any WoW books but we both (DH and I) want to

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL YOU MOMMIES!!!
Look what my babies did for me!

aren't they the sweetest, I love my poopers  Cheesy

I took the sash that came with my bridesmaid dress and cut it up for the purple parts (it's more purple than periwinkle, like the picture depicts) and just bought some wedding-ish white stuff for the rest

close-up of the emboridery and this is more true to the color also

119  a purse for athenamat in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by murbeck on: April 23, 2008 05:47:26 PM
I just completed my very first craft swap.  It was the best experience EVA!!  It was the fairytale, folklore and fairy swap and my partner was Athenamat.  She was awesome to make for and recieve from.  Here's my "large" item I made for her.

She's using it to carry her laptop.  I was super happy with how it came out and was tempted for a second to keep it for myself  Smiley

Do you love it?  Like it?  Care for it at all?

Yes, I as a matter of fact I'm a witness, but moving along!  My Mom asked me to make her a new purse.  We picked out some fabric together while I was up visiting her in TN and now it's done!  I LOVE it!
"toot toot!"  <----- me tooting my horn

(the straps not twisted, I just had it hanging on my shoulder twisty-like)

What do you think?!
