24  Re: Beading work spaces....how do you organize? in Beads: Discussion and Questions by beaderjojo on: January 29, 2008 06:30:47 AM
Organization is a constant battle, and ever changing and evolving. When I first started using seed beads, I bought a ton of those little flip tops to keep them in, but I've been weaning myself off of them and have been using glass spice jars.
When I moved into my fiancés place, he cleared out one half of his "art room" (he's a painter) to make way for my bead stuff. He built me see through shelving, and another shelf with a bunch of hooks on the bottom to hang strands, and holder for my tools. Organizer/compartment trays are essential )for me anyway) to keep misc. items that may have otherwise been scattered all over the table under control. Underneath the table I have a few plastic organizers to hold my less used stuff…adhesives and ribbon, "beginner beads", stuff like that.
SOMEDAY we'll have a studio but for right now we have to make due with what we have. =)

25  White gold & Swarovski beaded - "flapper" earrings in Beads: Completed Projects by beaderjojo on: January 21, 2008 08:39:34 AM
These earrings consist of a checkerboard Swarovski flatback crystal captured in 22k white gold hex-cut delica beads & fringed with 8 helix Swarovski crystals. My fiance said they reminded him of vintage "flappers", thus the name.

26  Seed bead wrapped jasper stone in Beads: Completed Projects by beaderjojo on: January 17, 2008 12:11:09 PM
Someone came to me with a pendant with a pretty jasper stone and asked if I could do a bead wrap around it. Sure thing! Only, it was already set in a silver setting. I decided to bead right around that sucker anyways. The silver really took attention away from the stone, so I thought a matte black would be fitting, and bring the stone to the forefront. I used sz.11 delicas for the bulk of the beading, and 15's in some areas to make the tension a bit more tight.

Here is a before and after collage, hope you like it!

27  Re: Bead Weaving **Tutorial & Pics Added!** in Beads: Completed Projects by beaderjojo on: January 17, 2008 05:23:25 AM
You all have some gorgeous stuff here, thanks for sharing!
I'd like to share some patterns I made:

This one is for a peyote stitched beaded pen cover using sz. 11 delicas

These two are just flat peyote patterns, good for amulet bags or wall hangings

And here is a necklace I just finished using Toho's, from Sandra D. Halpenny's Herringbone Summer pattern

28  Newbie Hello & Dreadlock beads in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by beaderjojo on: January 17, 2008 04:56:59 AM
Stumbled upon this site yesterday, just wanted to give a proper hello to all the fellow crafters out there. My name is Joanna, I'm 25 from Connecticut, MA.
I am primarily a beader (hopelessly addicted to tiny seed beads), but do occasional gemstone bead-stringing as well. I'm also interested in general crafty stuff. I'm looking forward to sharing ideas and inspiration with everyone...I've browsed through the site a little bit so far, we got some talented peeps in here!

Since this IS the completed project forum, here are some peyote stitched dreadlock beads I'd like to share with y'all.
edited to add: Yay I have over 10 posts I can put the actual pics in here!
