281  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Little Dead Riding Hood on: September 27, 2009 01:43:31 AM
So I decided I want to be Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween. Only, you know, not fortunate enough to get away from the Big Bad Wolf! So I'm gonna have scratch marks on my arms and chest, maybe neck. The husband and I decided to play around with the makeup today to see what we could come up with. We used liquid latax, toliet paper, makeup (my regular, every day makeup!) and, of course some blood!

Oh, we also used Lippsstix 's awesome tutorial. After I showed the husband that post, he knew he wanted to be a zombie!

those are awesome ideas! i love the idea of making a magnet that says "real men wear aprons." that would be perfect to put in my husband's stocking, since he's such an awesome cook.

288  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Food Gift Ideas on: October 22, 2008 10:09:22 PM
okay so, last year, for a few members of our family, my husband and i made cookies. they each got gingerbread men, chocolate chip, cinnamon, and oatmeal. we wrapped them up in boxes and i included recipes. this year i want to do something different.

i was wondering if anybody had any good food gift ideas? something besides cookies. i was thinking peppermint bark (i believe that's what it's called...) still something sweet, but it's different than cookies. or those recipe jar thingys. you know, the ones with all the ingredients inside them to make soups and such. anybody have any other ideas? what are some foods you've made to give out as gifts? sweet,salty,spicy...whatever! share any and all ideas! thanks =)
289  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Christmas Traditions? on: October 22, 2008 09:08:16 PM
let's see...when my older brother and i were little, we'd always get to open one present on christmas eve. that tradition has now been passed down to my 7 year old nephew! we usually got our tree a few days after thanksgiving. this will be my first  christmas not living in my parents house, but i plan on keeping this tradition with my husband.

a few traditions that my family has is that we always have a little party on christmas eve. usually we just serve finger foods. veggie and meat and cheese trays, french bread, chips, various dips. oh! we have potato salad and tamales too! sometimes other family comes, sometimes it's just me, the husband, parents, bro, sil, and nephew. the next morning we wait until my bro and his fam come over before we open gifts.

with my husbands family, all of his cousins and such gather at their aunt and uncles house an christmas eve. we either watch a couple movies and play some games and then at midnight we all open our presents! it's so much fun, it usually takes a good hour or so for everybody to get through their gifts. one person is oppointed the trash person who has to keep dumping the paper in the trash bag (usually the youngest) and cousin is always "santa": he reads who the gifts are for and hands them all out. he even wears a santa hat! the next day, we usually all go movie hopping!

a tradition that my husband and i have is going to go look at christmas lights. there's a neighborhood in my city that does up big! since this is will be our first christmas in our own house, i wanna start making some more of our own tradiitions. maybe making a whole day out of tree decorating.

oh! and of course, can't forget a christmas story! this movie MUST be watched at least once during the holidays. we too have a station that plays it for 24 hours straight. i can watch it over and over and over...
290  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Craft My Celebrity Crush! Signups 10/1 to 10/26; Sendouts 11/17 on: October 10, 2008 03:22:19 PM
I don't have male celebrity crushes, cause my boyfriend is the best. But there are several women who I'd consider my celebrity crushes because I think they're super cool and would want to BE them, not be WITH them. Does that count?? (like for instance, Tina Fey!)

that's what i was thinking. in that case my third crush would be kat von d. so mine are:

1.johnny depp
2. claudio sanchez
3. kat von d

now all i have to do is fill out the questionnaire!
