Finally starting my poppet.
I am pretty new to sewing and having some trouble understanding. What is the purpose of using the freezer paper?

 Ok, so I finally start my poppet. And I have to use an old sewing machine (and I mean old) because the one I had been using was all messing up. Now this machine is doing the same thing that the other one was. I start sewing and after a couple of inches it stops and gets stuck with the needle down in the machine. Is it me? Am I doing something wrong?  When it happens I cut all threads and take the bobbin out and make sure it is not tangled, but it will get stuck again when I start sewing again. Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks, Beth
