1  Re: Jar of Whimsies 6 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by jessa_aka_jalapeno on: September 29, 2009 06:18:04 PM
Hey everyone! I received not one, but two amazing jars from freestyle yesterday! Be prepared for lots of pics. I think some items may be absent from these photos because I went through everything and started using some things before I was able to take pictures, so if I missed anything and you have pictures please post them.

Okay, here we go...

The jars are mugs with an illustration of dandelion seeds blowing away. So cute!!

Here is a rather disorganized shot of most of the smaller whimsies (sorry for the wierd lighting and arrangement, it was a beautiful day today so I decided to take pictures outside under our tree, lol)

Here are my favorites! I said I would scream for joy if I found a little lucky cat or buddah statue in my jar, and she got me pendants which are 1000 times better than statues! YAY! Cheesy And I am pretty sure that the yarn is handspun, and that the matryoshkas are hand painted. I am very excited! I had a couple of other favorites that didn't make it into the picture because they are already in use. One was a bar of handmade loofa soap (the best soap ever!) and a keychain with my name on it and a little lemon.

Here are some closeups of the other whimsies. There are so many cool things in there, I don't even think I can list them all, lol. But among the notable things are the kitty beads, the tiny pinecones (where on earth did you find them?!) and puzzle pieces, the citrus beads, and the tiny little clogs.

And last but not least are the paper whimsies. I got some cool asian paper, a page with cool foreign writing on it, a bunch of cool vintage things like tickets and illustrations, and these really amazing chopsticks with little geishas on the paper cover.

Thank you so much! You really nailed my tastes.

I received from noooitare today!! I am one happy camper. Grin This is going to be a picture heavy post, but I promise you, it will be worth it!

The goodies came in this envelope:

Smiley

This is the first thing I pulled out - A cute little octopus plushie! He is so soft and squishy! Cheesy And I forgot to take a picture of the back, but the pattern of the fabric matches up on the sides and everything so it is symmetrical. Awesome!!

Close-up of the embroidered face.

This is the tag that was attached to the plushie. It says, "I eight it". Teehee Smiley

Next are the ATCs:

"Fish Friend"

"Jelly Notebook"

"Pointy Polanski"

"In the Ocean"

"Laces Up Squishy!"

There were also these really neat envelopes:

I am pretty sure they were made from the pages of a kid's book. The bears are so cute!

Then I found these hairties and a beautiful necklace:

I can't wait to wear them to school tomorrow! Everyone will be jealous. Cheesy

And last but definitely not least:

A beautiful painting of an octopus. I can't wait to frame it and put it on my wall for everyone to see!

Check out that detail!

I feel like I am being redundant, but everything is truly amazing. Thank you Kira!!

3  It's Raining Giant Matryoshka Totebags! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by jessa_aka_jalapeno on: September 08, 2009 05:13:32 PM

Haha, just kidding. I know you guys are probably tired of seeing this fabric by now, but I am so in love with this bag that I had to share.

I promised myself that I wouldn't make any more bags, but I needed the perfect one to take to school. It had to be big enough for all of my stuff and perfectly tailored to my needs. So, I made it with the little bit of the kokka trefle fabric I had left.

I love huge bags. The bottom is squared off and reinforced with extra interfacing. I also stitched the handles down like six times, so hopefully they won't go anywhere.

Here is the inside. It is a little hard to see, but I made pockets near the bottom of the bag custom fitted to hold my calculators, lab glasses, and pens and pencils. The pockets for my calculators and lab glasses are padded with layers of fleece so that they won't get crushed. At the very top you can kinda see (if you look really hard) the shirred loop that I put in to hold my water bottle upright.

And just for fun, here it is modeled as a necklace.

Hope you guys enjoy it!

I received my last set of inchies today! They are awesome.

That fabric in the background of the "Diva" one actually has a golden sheen to it. It is hard to capture in a scan. My favorites are "Square Bear" and "Impossible". Thank you Seraphina!!

Secrets!!

"I didn't realise my phobia had got so bad... I can't even look at a picture of a spider without feeling physically sick."

"Wish I knew what I want to be when I grow up. 56 & still wonder!"

"I KNOW I'm on a dangerous path, but I can't ask for help until I reach my goal."
The back just says, "Please notice the hints I'm dropping"

"I still suck my thumb when I'm: scared, tired, nervous, or upset."

Here are mine from beccas_song! They are so sweet:

Again, I can't pick a favorite. They are all so pretty! I am really mad at myself though, because I lost the butterfly that was inside the little box on the inchie on the bottom right. It came loose, and I was going to glue it down, then realized I somehow lost it on the way to the craft table. Sad Hopefully it will turn up one of these days.

Thank you!!

As promised, here are the pics of the envelope that Zigg13pra sent her items in. It is so pretty! One side has lemons:

(And a postage due stamp, which is no big deal because the contents are so cool. I plan to take care of it next time I go to the post office - does anyone know how to take care of that, btw?)

And the back has swirlies:

Cheesy

I received from zigg13pra today!! Here are the goodies:

A cute fabric peice, some ribbon, a really nice bookmark, and some cards.

Some paper crafting supplies including part of a page of a French book (so cool), some stamps, some super adorable stickers (Smiley), and some letter cut-outs that spell my name and username. I also got some shrinky charms!! They came pre-shrunk, but I shrunk them as soon as I got them. I think I am feeling a charm bracelet. Cheesy

And, last but definitely not least, my she managed to send me not only a rock, but some gold as well:

Yep, the teeniest and flattest rock ever painted with a lemon on it. Grin
And some gold leaf!! I have always wanted some. I would've taken it out of the paper sleeve, but seeing that it is like a nanometer thick, I didn't think that would be a good idea.

Thank you so much!

I received from Calluna today! I got some awesome goodies.

First, some kick-butt ATCs:

"Fish Empathy"

"Nautilus(t)"

"Urchin Love"

That last card is the kind that changes when you move it (I forgot what it is called). It changes to "loves me not". It is also a sticker!

And she also sent some of the CUTEST envelopes known to mankind:

Grin
Thank you so much! You rock.
