So, I'm a photographer. Although I haven't ever seen photography placed here before, I think it is an art form and I wanted to share  Grin

These were taken with a Canon Rebel T3 and a standard 18-55mm lens with a 10x magnify macro attachment. My aperture was set at f/5.6, shutter speed 1/80, and ISO-200...

Thanks! You're more than welcome to take any inspiration from it! I took inspiration from one I saw on Etsy, too.
The sinew I got had a very waxy feel to it and was a bit slippery once my hands warmed it up. I did strip it into about three strands just to make it thinner and not so bulky. I didn't like how it would slip from the center of a strand off to the side while I was working, but once it cooled and I guess the waxy finish solidified again, it stayed put.
Thanks for the tips  Smiley

Thank you very much! I felt that I should make no claim to the base design of it, but I did take it much further. I don't paint much and this was the most detailed thing I have painted in a looong time.
It's currently sitting on display on his altar Grin so he rather enjoys it.

Wasn't sure if this was the right board for this, but I consider it an art piece...

I made this for my boyfriend for Christmas  Grin I'm pretty proud of how it turned out! My mom had this long (3-3.5 feet) piece of driftwood out in her yard...I took it  Tongue lol! I used some steel rings (a 12 in, 8 in, and 6 in, I believe) and wrapped each of those in a black cotton yarn. I did the traditional dreamcatcher weaving with artificial sinew in the smaller two rings (I added some beading too) and used a gold colored embroidery thread to wrap the 8 in within the 12 in. I wanted a sun/moon effect. I used some faux leather/suede cord to hand it on the driftwood and for all the hanging pieces. I bought a few packages of feather picks in black, black/red/gold, and black/white and some wooden beads for all those hanging pieces. It took, all together (including dry time for glue), about three days. The hardest part was all the sinew. It was my first time working with it and I also wanted the tighter sections rather than wider ones.

Here's some pictures of the finished piece (they aren't the best for color reference)...

Thanks for viewing!

So, seeing as I'm finally back on Craftster, I thought I'd post a couple projects that I've worked on this past year. This one was made for my boyfriend as a gift. I also entered it in a local craft fair last September and received Judge's Choice (which is the second highest award). It's painted on a large rock that's about a foot tall and about 8 inches wide and 2 inches thick. It fit perfectly on a cheap metal easel I found, too. I used all acrylics (even the metallic which, when photographed, gave the tree a bark-like texture!). Here it is from start to finish!

NOTE: I did use a reference for painting this, but I changed it A LOT! My reference was a silhouette I found when I searched tree of life and it had a wolf on each side, similar flowers, etc. However, I did not trace this and I only used to reference as a base for the idea and the shape of the tree, symbols, and I loved the wolf idea because my boyfriend loves wolves.

19  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Neliel (Bleach) Wig/Mask for 6 Month old??? HELP! on: April 25, 2012 02:06:56 PM
My baby will be 6 months old for Halloween and I seriously want to dress her up like Nel, but I have NO CLUE how to go about making her hair turquoise...or what to make the mask out of.  I initially thought to do Styrofoam but it would have to be in a bowl shape for me to work with it.  Any ideas??? Then I thought I could buy some turquoise hair extensions and glue them under the mask but I don't know if that would work as well as I think...

I'm glad you liked everything.  Thanks again for sending the polymer kit because I loved creating that little guy even though it took me a long time lol.  I'm glad he found a good home.  Cheesy
The koi ATC is my favorite too...it's my favorite coloring, Asagi, meaning dark blue.  Asagi is also the name of my favorite japanese singer from the band D.
