1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: OOWYHS 2014 Discussion Thread on: October 25, 2014 08:14:26 PM
I live in a very small town (the interstate doesn't even pass through my town...it's 15 minutes away). Hancock Fabrics is 30 minutes away, Joann's and Hobby Lobby is an hour away, and my local yarn store is an hour and 15 minutes away. The closest Wal-Mart that carries any craft supplies (which is the closest one to me) is also 30 minutes away. So, no matter what, I have to drive quite a ways...
I love going to my local yarn store, but since it's such a drive, I try to order online when I can and know what I want. I much prefer to feel the yarn in person though.

Things that I would snatch right up?...Hmm... Any knitting pattern books or fiber books, or magazines. Any fiber or natural fiber yarn, knitting needles (circulars or decorative straights), zippered bags that I can use as project bags, anything Totoro related or mice that are dressed up (like toys or something my kid can have to play with), fox anything! or owl anything! lol. I also like artwork that fits with my likes, too. Also, knitting or crochet related notecards.
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: OOWYHS Gallery on: October 19, 2014 02:09:10 PM
I received from A2K yesterday! I claimed a custom pouch and a bird seed bag. The pouch is super cute!! You see that?! Yeah, it's foxes!! and mushrooms!! and trees!!...and FOXES!

My granny took the bird seed bag with her yesterday lol. She said it's perfect for carrying stuff at the outdoor flea market my grandparents go to every weekend. She thought that was the coolest thing!
Thanks, A2K!

I crochet, knit, and spin mostly, but I do paint and sculpt and do other random crafts as I need to. As I have all the acrylic yarn I need for all the toys I need to make within the next year 0_0 I needed to get rid of some. Although, if there's yarn I generally would have to drive an hour to get or order, I'll grab it, and any other needles and such. Fiber will get me all the time. I do love bags I can use as project bags, charms for stitch markers, any nifty thing I can use for something for my kids, patterns and books, and would love some little gift items for holidays like soaps, scrubs, lip balm, etc...our other smallish handmade stuff.
I'm also a photographer...hence all the photo prints. I like to use them with mixed media and just art.

Just an idea, but maybe this is a great way to go about the swap discussion. We should talk about what crafts we do and what we'd be interested in or are looking for...that way everyone knows what to offer up to keep the swap going quickly.  Wink

And yes, you only need one hook for Tunisan crochet. I haven't tried it, but it does look great in some of the projects I've seen.

Firstly, Yay, we have another claim! Thank you, Acadian Driftwood! I'll get that shipped out asap.

Secondly, I dunno if I would use the word "purge" as much as I would "destash" or "stash-down." Purge makes it sound like I would just throw it away. I sort of challenged myself this year to create all my holiday gifts from the yarn I had in my stash/leftovers. My current living situation doesn't provide a lot of storage space so I've had to go through a lot of my yarn and figure out what I would use and what I needed to find new homes for. I also have a tendency to do random crafts and I have to buy things that I'll only use a couple of pieces from so I end of having a ton left over. (Just recently bought a package of jump rings in order to use a dozen or so for making stitch markers...tons left over so I tossed them in with my miscellaneous craft box.)
It also doesn't help that I've picked up two new crafts recently...  Shocked What? I had to buy knitting needles...and drop spindles...and fiber...oh, all of the fiber...  Roll Eyes

Sorry I didn't update/edit yesterday. I added a couple of items and modified the pricing. I hope my stuff isn't what is holding the swap up! I feel so bad!  Sad

Ah!  Ok so here's the discussion board lol. I had trouble finding it. Idk if I was clicking the wrong link, but the link on the signup thread leads to the old board. Idk. But I'm ready!! Just got to get all my stuff together and take pics.
