11  Ohio / Ohio: Northeast / Artists Needed for Awesome Shows! on: July 25, 2009 10:33:54 AM
So, as a jewelry artist depending on shows and fairs, I've grown to be frustrated with the general crowd a usual "craft show"draws. You know, the typical grandmothers looking for crochet potholders and embroidered button-up tees. It has been a bit difficult to find shows and events that fit my market (that I can afford for now,) so instead, I will be running shows full of great art and unique objects. Vintage items are welcome too.

This is where you come in. If you feel the same way and have been looking for a venue that attracts a different, younger, or just more art-appreciative market, please contact me. The show dates are still yet to be decided, but in the meantime, I'm putting artist information on file so I have a contact once everything falls into place. It will be at least a month and a half or two months into the future, so there's no rush. You'll have plenty of time to prepare if needed.

Please let me know if you're interested, and include your name, a website you may have or pictures of your work, and an e-mail address and phone number I can use to contact you. You can leave information but don't feel like you are obligated to say yes if I contact you down the line and you find you can't do the show. However, there will be more shows in the future and I would love to stay in touch.

Shows will be in Solon, Hudson, Twinsburg, Chagrin Falls, and other outlying areas.

PM me or e-mail me at Beatrice@BirdcageBohemia.com. Hope to hear from you!
Beatrice

Edit: There are tentative dates for mid-September. To learn more, please visit my blog at: http://anisaexperience.wordpress.com/
12  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Washer and Nut Earrings - Set 1 - Pic Heavy on: July 10, 2009 07:52:47 PM
I was so totally at the same show at Tower City Center last Thursday (July 2nd.) My table was the one with all the birdcages, haha.

I think your jewelry is absolutely awesome! I love the idea of using washers and hardware and making them pretty. It has such an industrial yet beautiful appeal.

I wonder how well you would do in Coventry? I love Tower City Center and all but sometimes I find the market a bit too "traditional" or on the other end of the spectrum, looking for "bling." It's been frustrating for me but I don't know how well you did at that show. Coventry seems like a place full of people who would appreciate your work. I wonder if they're having a festival there soon or if you can get a permit for setting up a sidewalk table...

What do you think? I hope you succeed! Both of us being in the same area, I love being able to try to connect and help each other. I honestly think we should try to stick together despite being in the same category: jewelry.

So cute! Except it kind of looks like my ex-boyfriend, eerily so....

Thanks!

 Shocked

Your ex looks like an alien bounty hunter/biker dude?  Grin

Yeah, well I made some questionable choices in partners. But he is my ex for a reason... hahaha. Is it better if I said he looks like my ex the way he looks NOW as opposed to how he looked back when I dated him?  Grin

Very cute! I like it a lot. I do the same type of thing. I think there's a post of mine around here somewhere, if you look in general completed projects in jewelry for "Re-vintaged Jewelry."

Keep going with your jewelry!
17  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: SEAMLESS SHORT SHORTS #2 on: April 22, 2009 04:09:07 PM
The shorts you make are a great achievement. But, seriously dude, are you in love with your package or what? That is the first thing that pops out (no pun intended)!

But it's like a wonderful bonus! "Those are some nice knitted shorts. ...Oh look! I get to look at a dude's package, too!" I would spend far more time on Craftster than I already do if there were an abundance of package in every shot.

I just burst out laughing when I read that.

I really like the shorts. I want a pair for myself, preferably a bit shorter and in pretty blue/green/black. May I ask why you have a hanging spoon in the background? Props to a guy knitting tight shorts, then showing them off. It gave me something to think about for a minute...

I LOVE that heart pendant! It's so simple but so so elegant. It has just enough "vintage" feel. LOVE.

Thank you! It is vintage and I'm glad I was able to keep the feel of that!

As a deaf person involved in a deaf community, I feel a responsibility to clear up this misunderstanding. ASL is not an international language among deaf people. My family is from Poland with some family members and friends in other countries. Every foreign person I meet in other countries signed in their corresponding language: France, Poland, Germany, Denmark, Thailand, Russia, Japan, Sweden, etc. I, in fact, sign a mix of ASL, English (grammatically proper English) sign language, and Polish.
