841  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Re: wet felted tree wall hanging on: February 24, 2008 05:09:38 PM
Pretty!  I'm not generally into felted wall hangings, but I really like this one!
842  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Wire and glass pendant on: February 19, 2008 10:07:36 AM

Did you use diamond glaze to cover the bits?

I love how your necklace turned out. I would totally wear that Smiley

edited to add: I always use acrylic gel medium to cover and get reactions with the metal.

Thanks!

I used mod podge mixed with food coloring on the bottom, then after it was done I used crystal laquer (also from paper studio) on top.  The glittery stuff is just glitter, and some very very tiny glass marbles that I found in the scrapbooking section at Michaels.

This is awesome!
Once I find a felting needle I totally want to try to make some little animals!

Did you use a patter for this or did you just make it up as you went along?

Thanks, I just used a picture of a rottweiler to go by.  My girlfriend actually made the wire frame as I am not wonderful at that, then I felted around it.

As for felting needles, you have to go to a yarn store, I tried Michaels and some other random craft stores, but only yarn/fabric stores have needlefelting supplies.

As promised:

Just turn your computer 90 degrees to the left to see the bottom one.  Smiley

I ordered some pendant trays from paperstudio.com.   Here is some of what I came up with:

The wire is kind of rusting, I'm not sure what to do about that.  Also I must give credit to ParisGirl who's projects steered me to trying watercolor with the last two pendants.

Here is my second completed needlefelting.  Considerably better than the first, I'd say.  My friend had to put her rottweiler down yesterday so I made her a little replica.  I could get into this.

A friend of mine told me that if you ask at thrift stores for shrunken wool sweaters, they will just give them to you.  Apparently they get them but don't put them out because they assume no one wants a shrunken sweater.

This is a very entertaining tutorial. I read it about three times just for fun.

I think I will make some thumbtacks in this manner.
849  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / My first needle felting on: February 13, 2008 05:30:21 PM
Here it is.  I followed a you tube tutorial that someone posted in another topic.  I'm happy with how it turned out- the ones I have started since aren't going quite as well.

(Also I used some paper I made as the photo's backdrop, as I took it on my dashboard)
850  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: Vday cards using paint samples, mags & paper - VERY IMAGE HEAVY on: February 12, 2008 09:46:51 AM
That's a great idea, I've always been strangely drawn to those walls of paint samples.  I especially love that you can just take them, no questions asked! *sigh* I'm easily entertained.
