1  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Seeking pallet fence advice/tips on: May 16, 2013 12:31:01 PM
I have access to a huge amount of wood pallets, and I am planning on fencing in my whole yard with them (about 150 feet, I think).  I saw an article about using 4x4 posts and just sliding the pallets over them, but at my estimate thats about 75 posts, and I don't really have that much money, or want to do that much digging.  Maybe if I fastened two or three pallets together somehow?   I've also never put up a permanent fence of any kind so this is my first go.  I am looking for cheap and fast tips!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Re: Getting rid of spiders - non chemically on: May 16, 2013 12:24:29 PM
I agree, once you get the grass cut and make less hideouts for them, they will find other places to hang out.  I've also heard that you can just ask them to leave and they will.... it's worth a shot!

Hedgeballs work wonders, but they are not available year round.  I think in the fall you should be able to find them in your grocery store, probably by the root vegetables. They are wrinkly green things, hard and about the size of a big orange.  Spiders dont like the smell and will leave.  The hedgeballs shrink up as they age and don't really rot or anything.  I cut some in half and tossed them in my shed that was crawling with spiders, and I haven't seen any in there since (this was like 5 years ago!)

5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Jar of Whimsies Rd 12 Gallery on: May 07, 2013 07:02:58 PM
Okay, so I was feeling pretty proud of the package I put together, until I received from bunny1kenobi!   I can't believe how much stuff she fit in this package and all the awesome handmade goodies!

That is a handmade bag from a t-shirt (from my pinterest!) that was packed with TONS of tiny things and more bags!  She sent along a fiat bag full of vendor goodies she collected Smiley

A poor pic of the t-shirt bag, it doesn't nearly do it justice:

SOME of the whimsies that were inside:

Inside the little purple bag were all these!   I LOVE all the tiny keys!  And some on keyrings even!!!  Mini keys have been on my wishlist forever.

An awesome collection of miniatures:

And handmade minis!  I am so excited about the framed photos and the candles and the chinese boxes!

And finally, my favorite thing of all, this bracelet-  Again, the photo does not effectively translate it's awesomeness.   I am planning on wearing this every day once I can start wearing short sleeves again (we've had a couple snowstorms this May.... which I would like to say explains my blinding white arms, but that's just actually the color they are year round)

Thank you so much bunny1kenobi.... you are a wonderful swap partner and my mind has been spinning since I received, thinking of all the ways I am going to use everything!   Grin

bunny1kenobi-  I almost made your "jar" the Tim Holtz boxes but I decided on something else Smiley    Also, since I'm not sending out til tomorrow, I have been freaking out trying to find two different sets of supplies that I KNOW are somewhere in my house and would be perfect to squeeze into your package but I can't find them anywhere!!  I don't know how stuff like this just disappears off the face of the earth...

Here I am thinking I've got a couple weeks to finish this swap and it's more like a couple days!   I better get a move on this weekend!

I've finally started cranking out little crafts- but some of them end up being so fragile I am scared to put them in a jar :/
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Wee House Craftalong-Ongoing 2011-Forever! on: April 05, 2013 01:36:40 PM
I inherited one of those mug rugs from somewhere.  Its really cute but the foam backing is so thick it makes it kind of awkward in a tiny house.  I'm sure I will find someplace for it though.

I'm planning to hit some yard sales in the morning, too, since we live in yard sale nirvana....!  Grin

Oh I'm jealous, there's still snow on the ground here so yard sales wont get going for a month or so.  I always feel like such a creep sitting on the ground digging to the very bottom of the little kids toys, but that's where all the good stuff is!
