2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / You are inside my heart on: January 24, 2010 01:39:53 PM
Here's mine! I have had this little quote in my head for some time, and thought it was a perfect little secret to find inside a wee Valentine-y box...

I made the little box as I didn't have any matchboxes in the house, and then covered it in with red paper, stamped it and added the stitched heart on top.
When you "follow your heart", oooh what do you find...?

Inside is a magnet I made with a teeny print of one of my illustrations modge-podged onto a bamboo tile with holes drilled thru it, then I added a sparkley heart and beads and sequins wrapped thru the holes in the tile, like a little hug!

5  CANADA / British Columbia / Granville Island Ferries Garbage Can Art Contest on: September 11, 2005 11:03:06 AM
hey artsy crafty folks in vancouver and area! here's a fun competition(i go in every year) and they are looking for more entries! you don't need to be an "artiste"- just have fun with it and from what i've seen, pretty much anything goes. it's for a great cause- check it out! maybe see ya there!

Calling All Artists!
Help Keep The Kids At Children's Hospital Painting!

It's that time of year again .... time to think about the annual Granville Island Ferries Garbage Can Art Contest & Auction which takes place Sunday, September 25, 2005 on Granville Island.

Twenty-five artists will take part in the four hours of creative madness, turning plain metal garbage cans, provided by the event sponsor, Granville Island Ferries, into works of art.
The aritsts provide their time, their art supplies and their great ideas!   Granville Island Ferries supplies the garbage cans, tents, water, power and sheltered areas for spray-painting.  To keep the artists and crowds in a holiday mood, celtic music is provided throughout the afternoon by Blackthorn.

Three judges from the local arts community award first, second and third place (with modest cash prizes) and the finished collectibles are then auctioned to raise funds to purchase supplies for the art therapy programs at British Columbia's Children's Hospital.

To register for this year's fun, reply by return email providing your full name, your mailing address (including your postal code), your daytime and evening phone numbers (and a cell number if you have one) and your email address.  Your registration will be confirmed by return email.

For more information call event organizer Kevin Dale McKeown at 604.688.2478 or email kevin@publicityplus.ca.
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / block for "quilts for katrina" flickr project on: September 02, 2005 06:02:03 PM
Quilts for Katrina at Flickr
i just got invited to this group today. it's similar to the tsunami quilt project, where you can make a block, or blocks, and send in to the organizer who will then sew 'em all up and auction off the end product(s) to benefit the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina fund. i promptly signed up, after making a cash donation to the canadian red cross and feeling like it wasn't enough. go check out the group!

here's my first block, i have a second underway. (it's really a 10.25"x10.25" square but with a broken camera i had to improvise and use my limited scanner instead...)
