224  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / In search of a good Crochet slipper pattern!! on: December 21, 2004 12:43:39 PM
Hi! I am searching for a pattern for crochet slippers that works! I have tried about 6 from various links thru crochet patterncentral however they all either stretch out to be more like toilet seat covers, have large holes so your toes pop thru(annoying!) or just don't work!!

Anyone have one that works that you could recommend??

Thanks so much for any advice or links!!

Grin thanks everybody! I just learned to crochet a couple of weeks ago, I found the stitch library/how-to section at www.crochetpatterncentral.com very helpful. I only learned the fpdc & bpdc stitches to try to make these!! and thankfully it's not as hard as it looks...
thanks again for all the great feedback!!

I am so glad you like these!
Use worsted weight yarn to make them nice & chunky...
Here's the patterns:

Cupcake:
Use hook size H
Using Brown(Chocolate cake!) yarn,
Ch 4, join with a sl st to the first chain, chain 3 to count as first dc.
Dc 14 times in ring, slst to top of first dc to join, chain 3.
Bpdc around each post of each dc(14), slst to top of first bpdc to join, chain 3.
Fpdc around each  post of each bpdc(14), slst to top of first fpdc to join, bind off.

Icing(pink or whatever flavour you want)
Use hook size H
Chain 3,  join with a sl st to the first chain, chain 1
Round 1: Sc in each stitch, chain 1
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch, chain 1
Continue working around with  2 sc in each stitch until the icing measure roughly 2" across, bind off. Leave a long tail so you can sew the top onto the base. It doesn't seem to matter if the circle is not perfectly round, it doesn't show once assembled!

Put  a bit of batting/stuffing in the base, tucking tails of base inside. Stitch icing to top of base,  & at about 3/4 of the way around, add a bit more stuffing inside the top to make  it stick up, &  stitch closed.

I made the cherry with a small circle of red felt, gathering the edges & filling with stuffing. Used 1/8" thin satin ribbon pulled thru the cherry from the bottom, thru the top then back thru the bottom leaving a loop, on a big needle & tied in a knot on the bottom, then stitched the cherry on top of the cupcake, hiding the knot inside.

Sushi:
Make the base the same way as the cupcake, start by using white yarn for the "rice", complete the 14 dc in the ring & sl st to join, then swith to black yarn & complete same as  cupcake base.

For top of sushi, make another bottom of the base in the same way:

Ch 4, join with a sl st to the first chain, chain 3 to count as first dc.
Dc 14 times in ring, slst to top of first dc to join, bind off, leaving a long tail to stich pieces together.
To make the "contents" of the sushi(the red & green parts), I used red & green yarn & sort of embroidered it across the centre of the top using a sort of satin stitch, to cover the hole in the centre. Stitch over as many times as you want, I used doubled yarn & did 4 stitches for each colour. It also looks cute using  all orange yarn!

Put  a bit of batting/stuffing in the base, tucking tails of base inside & stitch top to base.

Then for the hanger, just used 1/8" wide red satin ribbon pulled thru on a big needle from the bottom to top then back out thru the bottom, leaving tails out at bottom to tie a knot, then pull thru so knot is hidden inside.

I hope these are all ok! I am still a beginner! Let me know if you have any problems with the patterns, I just kind of made them up as I went along...
~thanks!!
