...wish i knew how to crochet!

I <3 crochet, I tried and tried to knit, and I knit so tight I couldn't get past three or so rows, so I put it down. Then, I read a few times people said they'd learned to knit much easier after first learning to crochet, so I decided to try that, I got it on the first try, and haven't even bothered to pick up my knitting needles again. I really liked the Instant Expert: Crochet book, http://www.amazon.com/Instant-Expert-Crochet-Thunder-Press/dp/1592237088, because it had photos instead of drawings. Good luck if you try it!

I used to knit SO tightly too, to the point where I quit knitting for a few years. I found that using wool instead of acrylic helps a LOT. It's natural, so it has more give than synthetic. I also refuse to use metal needles anymore. I love bamboo needles now, they are a little more costly, but SO worth it!

www.marymaxim.com is a good site for getting bamboo needles that are a little cheaper than the ones you might find at your LYS.

Off topic, but still crafty, I guess it counts, right? Wink

My son was 4 days early and I was 2 months late. My due date was friday the 13th and my son was born on the 9th. My pregnancy was hell, I was sick, my hips dislocated and I could hardly move most of it but I still want to have a few more babies even if all my pregnancy are the same. My son was worth all the pain, even on his bad days Grin

2 months late!?! I didn't know they let babies go that long! WOW! Shocked

OK!

Here's the wonderful package that Jenicat gave me! I showed everything to Jenicat's brother, who is my FH, and he said "Wow, she made you a lot of cool sh!t, I hope you made her a lot of cool sh!t too!" So silly.

First, a group shot of all the loot!

Jenicat's daughter shows off my rainbow-themed Super Kitty!

Rockin' coiled rainbow coasters!

A super-handy rainbow hair-tie holder to keep in my purse (with matching rainbow hair ties!)

A crocheted rainbow purse with matching rainbow lining

An AWESOME rainbow coiled fabric bowl which is a featured project (I own a featured project! YAY! Grin)

Rainbow Brite buttons from my wist (I may have added them to my wist knowing Jenicat had a button machine Wink)

An awesome and super-comfy rainbow throw pillow

A "work survival kit"

with all sorts of useful stuff in it...

Jenicat's daughter grabbed the Tide pen, pulled off the cap and said "OOH! A MARKER!" and then went running off with it. I had to explain to her that it was a marker full of soap (best way I could think of to explain to a 2.5 year old what a Tide pen was) and get it back from her. She's the cutest! Cheesy

And then a completely non-rainbowy extra Grin

SOCK MONKEY!

Grin

Thanks Jenicat! You are the bestest! Cheesy

I was in Philadelphia this weekend for my sister's Senior Interior Design show for college, but one of my goals for tomorrow is to finally get photos of what Jenicat gave me up here. Just so no one thinks I'm trying to get out of it Wink

I don't think mcbenno is home right now (I keep track of her whereabouts at all times - or she told me she was going to eat dinner with friends), but I think I can answer that for you!  She told me she got them from an etsy shop, and etsy seller snew has them in her shop:  clicky clicky

That's absolutely correct. Cheesy

And that birdy tote is SO CUTE! I love the "spare bird" haha!

My camera battery is charging (the FH put my camera stuff in his camera bag - why!?! I can keep track of my own crap, thankyouverymuch) and I'm leaving for Philadelphia around noon tomorrow, so sometime between now and then pics of what Jenicat gave me will be up.

This gallery is so happy! Grin
