21  Re: 12 Days Of Christmas 2008 (Send Out 12/01/08) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by mcbenno on: December 01, 2008 08:59:10 PM
yay! after much waiting at the P.O., days 12-7 are in the mail. (apparently international packages over 4 lbs need to be sent Priority?! never knew that, but my package was almost 10 pounds... I'll let you all guess how much that was... I knew postage was going to be a lot, but it was still a little shocking when she rang it up!)

2711 - if the customs form is still on the box don't peek! I had to list everything!

here's a teaser though! I think my favorite wrapping job is the light blue one in the back. I put so much bubble wrap on it that you couldn't see through the package anymore, so I left it as the wrapping paper Cheesy

23  Re: Tree Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by mcbenno on: November 13, 2008 01:29:04 PM
Here is my super fabulous wonderful package from UntouchableFace! I didn't realize until just now that a month and a half ago when I was babysitting Jenicat's daughter, she touched the lens of my camera, so the blurryness in the bottom left corner of all the pictures is because of the fingerprint Grin It wiped off though Cheesy

First, we have this awesome tree painting. Looks like some sort of fabric and the negative space around the tree image was painted silver? Anyway, it's pretty rockin'!

This is a close up of the tree:

And because UntouchableFace was hoping it would match a room in my house, here it is with the throw pillows from my living room Grin

Next is this awesome picture frame with decoupaged leaves from her neighbor's yard. I'm glad the picture turned out well because the colors are subtle but REALLY pretty!

Then, there are two rubber stamps that she carved so I can use them in scrapbooking which is SO handy because stamps aren't cheap! And these are one-of-a-kind! She also sent me two ink pads to use with them! Holy exclamation points Batman! Wink Also, a tree embroidery that will get hung up somewhere (probably in the bedroom by my desk), and a felted soap! I had never seen one of these in real life, and I didn't know I was getting one, so when it fell out of the wrapping I thought it was a kiwi by just the feel of it. I was on the phone with jenicat at the time, so she will back my story, but for that half second before I looked down I was very confused Cheesy

She also sent me extras! Some sheets of paper and things to cut out - which Jenicat pointed out to me are made of trees. (I knew paper was made of trees, I'm just very medicated and didn't make the connection) Cheesy And the pretty envelope her note came in!

I really hope you like your package UntouchableFace! Thanks so much, everything is amazing! Cheesy

McBenno's 12-days of Christmas-tastic Gallery! Cheesy

On the 12th day of Christmas, 2711 gave to me...

12 cute felt ornaments!

(why is this picture sometimes sideways and sometimes right-side up? Huh)

On the 11th day of Christmas, 2711 gave to me...

A rainbowy folder...

...that holds 10 note cards!

(detail shots of the cards)

On the 10th day of Christmas, 2711 gave to me...

This little pink pouch...

...with ten marble magnets inside!

There are 2 bunnies, 2 with sequin-y stars, two paisley, two silvery flowery ones and 2 "j"s (because my name is Jenni) They are beautifying my fridge!

On the 9th day of Christmas, 2711 gave to me...

A bag of goodies! Supplies to be specific Cheesy

there's 1) four types of fabric, 2) sewing pins, 3) fabric "markers" (pencils), 4) thread, 5) a seam ripper (hahaha! - If you haven't read, I can never find one), 6) some cute holiday stickers, 7) a Hello Kitty cross-stitch bookmark kit, Cool needles, and 9) a bag full of bits of ribbon and trims.

HOW FUN!!

On the 8th day of Christmas, 2711 gave to me...

A recipe book!

each page has a different recipe (8 total)

and each recipe is on a little laminated bookmark so I can pull them out and not get the cookbook all messy while cooking! This is brilliant! (I get so much crap on my cookbooks!)

On the 7th day of Christmas, 2711 gave to me...

(Days 9 and 8 are still in the mail, so 2711 told me to skip ahead to days 7 and 6 Grin)

(opened on day 9)

Day 7 was the random day Smiley

A Christmas pudding (don't know if it's figgy or not though) and some chocolates that look like vintage buttons.

the back of the chocolate box that shows the buttons

A rainbowy necklace and bracelet (the bracelet jingles!) I tried to get an action shot, but my wrist was too close to the camera, and I wasn't going to attempt a photo of my own chest

star earrings! pink and orange are my favorites, and stars too!

The cutest print of robots with a cupcake! I almost put this on my wist (in fact, I thought I had, but I couldn't find it just now) and now it's all mine!

And possibly the best part of day 7... a craft magazine from December 1972! There is some wierd stuff in here, it's pretty funny to look through. 2711 says if I make anything out of it she wants to see pics... that sounds like a challenge! Wink

And I'm so glad she drew my attention to page 12, the woman in (what she calls) the "scary makeup". I happen to look like Princess Lea disguised as a hooker in a very unflattering sweater every day... don't know what's so "scary" about it! Wink

That is just ... special... Grin

On the 6th day of Christmas, 2711 gave to me...

(opened on day 8 )

6 ceramic ornaments of stars! Presumably made by Louise Alexander.

One of the points broke off in transit, but it's a clean break, so I think I should be able to glue it back with no problem. We both got pretty lucky with the breakables so far, all things considered.

On the 5th day of Christmas, 2711 gave to me...

(opened on day 7)

A sock monkey!

and a piggy bank!

and a Rapunzel scarf!

(it almost touches my toes!)

and a little pouch!

(inside)

and a peacock feather necklace!

Lots of exclamation points!!

On the 4th day of Christmas, 2711 gave to me...

(opened on day 6)

4 place mats! (that are pretty darn similar to the ones I sent 2711 for day 6 - which happened to be the day I opened these! haha! great minds think alike! Wink)

On the 3rd day of Christmas, 2711 gave to me...

OOH, I'm a spoiled McBenno! One thing I really wanted for Christmas was a set of bamboo crochet hooks. I didn't put this in my swap questionnaire, but 2711 found them on my amazon.com wish list (super stalker!). The funny thing is apparently my dad had looked for some for me but couldn't find any, so I didn't think I was going to get any, and that night when I came home from my parent's house, 2711s package was waiting for me! YAY!

ooh, so pretty!

ALSO! I got a WIP bag with a hold for the yarn to come through while working (which I DID ask for Cheesy)

The buttons are cute little pins, but I didn't get a good pic of them.

Item 3 (yes, there's more!) was a magic yarn ball! I've never had one of these before! I cheated and unrolled the whole thing because she warned that if I didn't use it soon it would get yucky - I found gummy candies inside, so that explains that. The yarn ball was kawaii themed - WHEE!

On the 2nd day of Christmas, 2711 gave to me...

(opened on day 5)

2 skirts! YAY! Cheesy

One is a pink and purple and turquoise-y twirly skirt - super girly Wink (which is a good thing!)

the other is a more A-line style skirt with a drawstring waist - white with a pretty mossy green and berry colored floral print at the bottom - with sparkles too!

On the 1st day of Christmas, 2711 gave to me...

TWO THINGS! Cheater! Wink

An AWESOME sewing machine cover and a scrap catcher/organizer thingie (is there a good word ofr this?) for beneath the machine. The fabric is amazing! There's a little pocket on the left that I put my scissors in already Cheesy And the little applique on the cover is adorable!

Thanks for being such an awesome partner, 2711! This was tons of fun!

WHEE! here's my awesome package from sugaree!

First, some awesome fingerless gloves based on ones on my wist - she says they remind her of neopolitan ice cream with cherries on top. I agree Cheesy

They are super comfy - I've been wearing them randomly in my house for the last few days - can't wait until it's cold enough for it to make sense for me to wear them Wink

A super-cute charcoal (?) drawing of sweets! I am going to frame this and hang it in my kitchen Cheesy

A little cupcake pincushion ring - SO handy Cheesy My sewing table is such a mess that I probably ought to have my pincushion tied to me at all times to prevent losing it, so this will come in quite handy!

cute-tastic lollipop magnets that went onto my fridge immediately Smiley

AND... CANDY! Grin

I love everything, sorry it took me so long to post pics Sad Sugaree did an awesome job on everything! (and no, Sugaree, I don't see the mistake on the gloves, so don't tell me where it is Wink)

Hopefully this adorable Santa-kitty will get everyone back in the Christmas mood Cheesy

(This is the picture I really wanted to post, but I was afraid some people might be offended)

Oh BOY! Here is my package from sewsew-a-gogo. What an awesome pacakge! Cheesy the FH really liked the cross stitches - we are going to hang them up in our kitchen once we buy a house (hopefully soon... Wink)

I'm not sure what's up with some of the photos, sometimes when I view this page they are fine and other times they are turned sideways and stretched all funny (I swear I don't do drugs!) so... good luck!?! Huh

1) all the goodies:

2) the cutest tote bag EVER!!! Cheesy

3) a cross-stitched picture of a drink, some fries, and a "boca burger" (she specified this in the letter b/c I'm a veggie -  but meat doesn't bother me, so it can be a hamburger, I've just never eaten meat and have no real desire to start now - the FH is a meat-eater though! Cheesy)

4) another cross-stitched picture of some "soy nuggets" (same explanation Wink)

5) the cutest little sleeping mask (I LOVE this fabric!)

6) some extra goodes: hello kitty w/ apples ribbon, hello kitty magnets, a popsicle-shaped soap, a cupcake lip gloss, and a wind up sushi roll!

7) and an absolutely amazing cellphone charm. I took a ton of pictures because I had a hard time getting a good close up photo, and these are the ones that turned out the best, but it's really awesome!

Thanks so much sewsew-a-gogo! I hope you love your pacakge too! Cheesy

28  Re: Jar of Mini Whimsies Round 2 Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by mcbenno on: August 07, 2008 07:00:49 PM
UrsulaDiamond received my jar about a week ago, but it seems she's been working a lot lately an hasn't had a chance to post pics. I unfortunately didn't get pics of the goodies (I thought of taking pictures AFTER I shoved everything into the jar for the 5th time) but here's some pics until she can get some up.

the top of the jar Wink

sides one and 2 - shows some "U" post-its, a patch, some ribbon roses, and a flapper button that both jenicat and I wanted to keep! I sent it figuring I could just go buy more and now we can't find them at JoAnns! haha - oh well Cheesy

sides 3 and 4 - some elvis stickers, a string of red sequins (there's gold ones in there somewhere too), some red and black fabric, buttons and bobbles. You can kind of also see the gold embroidery floss I sent.

there's also a pen that looks like a syringe that I thought was pretty rockin'. A bunch of charms, a tiny bottle of glue, buttons, beads, some mini sharpies, chicklets, some of those little plastic cards for embroidery floss, gosh, other stuff I don't remember I'm sure.

Oh, and I made her a rosary too (she said she wanted rosary beads). Hopefully she can put up some pics of the guts of the jar and comment on anything I may have forgotten, but I wanted to put these up because she's been so busy.

my jar from UrsulaDiamond came last week and I haven't had a chance to post pics until now.

1) the jar with my pain in the ass very curious cat

2) metal findings, chain bits, a die and skull barrette, and 2 pairs of dice earrings

3) buttons (the clothing kind and the pin kind) and beads

4) fun toys! Wink I am super excited about the mini tank because I have been asking for micro machines for Christmas for about 5 years now but no one can find them! and yes, that's Mr. Burns on a suction cup. rock!

5) bits of ribbon and lace, pink shoelaces and lots of pink thread (my favorite color)

6) bits of fabric including tons of postage-stamp squares, a nylon tattoo-sleeve thing (made out of stocking material - way cool, i just can't think of a good way to describe it Cheesy), a teeny tiny pincushion, and a stuffed patriotic heart

7) all sorts of fun supplies - I asked for things that I could use in scrapbooking, and this certainly works Cheesy some of my favorites are the strawberry patch, the foam comic book-y stars (POW!), the metal frames with sticky backs, and the Toronto Blue Jays hologram (it's probably the 80's child in me but I LOVE holograms)

8 ) other goodies - a sleeping mask, paper cocktail umbrellas, "3-D Stick-On Transfers" (which are different from "stickers" how?? Wink), a pretty sequin flower pin and a teeny elephant candle

she also sent me a flier and sticker from the Pillow Fight League (of which she is a competitor), some business cards and matches from her boyfriend's tattoo parlor, some postcards and stamps, and a bacon band-aid (I didn't want to unwrap the band-aid to photograph it)

Thanks so much Ursula! you ROCK! Grin
