11  Re: 2010 200 Crochet Blocks CAL in Crochetalongs by Selnith on: November 08, 2010 10:07:40 AM
finally got round to rescuing the pic off my crackberry so here it is, a slightly better pic of mam's blanket which i took by spreading it out on her sitting room floor and standing on the coffee table

can you spot the 3 non-book squares?

It Is COMPLETE

apologies for the not so good photo, it's 21:30 and therefore dark so i've had to tweak it a bit
shall give it to mam tomorrow and hopefully get some better photos of it
in this photo it's thrown loosely over our chunky 3 seat sofa, mam wants it for a more delicate 2 seat sofa so it should be plenty big enough, though i suspect it'll get moved around so she can wrap up in it in front of the tv
and now as my boyfriend just said
The blankie is done! Long live the blankie!
as i intend to get some more yarn asap and start work on a blanket for a friend

45 inches across, 32 inches down, not sewn together yet or anything, just laid out for an idea of size

my work so far
they may not be arranged like this in the end (i'm sure mam has her own ideas about how it'll look) but i like it laid out this way

and it's currently about 3ft across i think

18  Fidget Pie in Recipes and Cooking Tips by Selnith on: May 12, 2010 01:39:49 AM
I made fidget pie last weekend to take to a family picnic (my brother was in his first kayak race, more of a fun run but he had fun, came in the top 20 and we were there to support him, of course). I got the recipe from the Hairy Bikers Food Tour of Britain Cookbook, it's a great recipe, not difficult at all (unless you're like me and either hit or miss with pastry, i got it on the 3rd try) and it was a huuuge hit
ooh, recipe is also online on their website http://www.hairybikers.com/index.php?action=recipes&id=51
so, onto photos
well, photo

it's layers of onions, potatos, apples and ham, seasoned with salt, pepper and sage
i don't have a good pic of the pie as a whole but i can tell you how it looked
lumpy, bumpy and golden brown
i put the pi symbol on top, but held back from putting 3.141592653589793 etc. round the edge of the pie, i'm such a geek sometimes

19  L5R Yoritomo Takara Costume in Costumes: Completed Projects by Selnith on: May 05, 2010 01:44:23 AM
a friend of mine asked me for help making a Yoritomo Takara costume for a con she was going to
it mostly ended up me doing it, she helped, if i showed her exactly what to do and sat and watched her while she did it
but anyhow, i made the hakama and armour, i got the hakama pattern as payment so i don't mind too much giving up 2 full days to it
so here's some pics i got when we were done making

The Whole Shebang

i did tell her it needed pressing and carefully folding but by the looks of the pics from the event i don't think she bothered but she looked the part well enough i think

C&C welcome

20  Re: 2010 12" Squares CAL- February in Crochetalongs by Selnith on: February 03, 2010 05:08:08 AM
well i finished another 12" this week, i found the pattern on CrochetPatternCentr al
if i keep this up i'm going to be drowning in blankets by the end of the year
blanket so far and a couple of close ups

going to do Feb's square, then the dreamcatcher square from 08? i have the pattern saved on my computer
and then some more squares
although i'm thinking of doing some strips (8" by 24") to put in as well, to try and keep  things square, my squares are rarely square, or the right size
