1  McQueen and Mater in Halloween Costumes by troll1984 on: November 02, 2011 06:24:26 PM
So, we haven't really done Halloween before because my son has a peanut allergy (he's almost 4) and it's hard to explain to him that he can't have about 60% of the candy he collects. This year I wasn't planning anything until my friend texted me that her little boy requested that my son go trick or treating with him at his grandparents house. Panic mode set in, I ask my son what he wants to be and he comes out with "Lightning Queen". Ok... I have 4 days, and a daughter I must costume as well. So, she'll be Mater. I invested approx. $10 in spray paint, and everything else was on hand. Mostly cardboard boxes and kraft paper, and they had straps to go over their shoulders. Those four days were spent staring at my sons matchbox versions of the cars for way too long.

Final product is.......

And Action Shots.....

It was an exhausting process of shaping cardboard, then covering, then painting. I got the Rusteze logo and the other sponsors on Lightning McQueen from the internet. The lightning bolt and "95" were cut out of yellow posterboard and the gradient was spray painted. Mater's towing cable supports were made from a curtain rod that my kids tore down last week (what timing?) and he even had a wire hook.

I just did that. I've got the flat rate boxes, just because it's easier. But I just printed the label, put it on the box and scheduled the pick-up. I should have looked into this sooner. I shall never leave home to ship something again. I also love that the flat rate was 50 cents cheaper + free DC = Saving $1.20 Smiley

Oh yeah, how's this for a teaser?

I got my package from DeannaLynn06!!! Last week actually, and I'm a slacker for sure. But here are the pictures, YAY!

First is Allie's outfit for her first birthday, straight off my wist! I love the matching headband, I hope her head is big enough for it by August Smiley

The next thing is matching Big Brother, Little Sister shirts, also from my wist!

My son, Austin, is obsessed with cars of any kind, so she sent not only a shirt, but Cars socks. We were sitting on the front porch when the package arrived and he had on sandals, and immediately got up on the swing beside me and tried to put the socks on Smiley

Austin also LOVES music, so he got a stenciled guitar t-shirt with "Rock" embroidered over it. Perfect for him to wear to our next concert, which will hopefully be soon since the weather is warming up. We love supporting our local musicians.

And last, but absolutely not least, is an adorable studded strawberry for Allie.

Thanks so much DeannaLynn06. I love it all and will hopefully have action shots soon. I'm hoping to get all of yours finished and in the mail soon Smiley

Tilt-Shift is fun. I love the tractor. Here's one I did of my college campus a few years ago.

I GOT MY BOX!!!

Woot! When hbrady said overstuffed, she meant OVER-STUFFED! And you can see my little man ready to rip into it.

The first things peaking out at me when I opened it.

Beads, beads and more beads. Plus stringing wire, some clasps and solder.

Wild Wire Jig and extra wire.

Tealights (I want to do some photography with fire and have been too lazy to dig my candles out of the back of my craft stuff, now I don't have to) and little drawstring bags (perfect for when I go to a craft show).

The little one wanted in on the fun too, so she rolled her way over and was stopped by this massive amount of yarn! The little white and pink ones are 100% Angora!!

Thanks so much hbrady, awesome job! (and she's a swap rookie)

7  Re: Tissue Flowers - Please help! in Weddings and Bridal Showers by troll1984 on: February 10, 2009 02:19:55 PM
I got married in my in-laws back yard. We chose August and my MIL was disappointed that her rose bush wouldn't be in bloom for the wedding. She made a bunch of these and tied them to the rose bush. People thought they were real  because the bush wasn't right beside where people were sitting. One of my guests even made a funny pic of him "smelling" the rose. Everyone loved them.

Ok, So I have to post some pics of my first paid photo session. I do have to say that most of my practice has been done on my 10 month old, and adults are much easier to work with. Anyways, CC is always appreciated. Sorry they are so huge.

I received from Crafty McCrafterson today and the box really did explode in the post office. My mailman said that it popped open in his bin as he was sorting everything this morning and buttons fell out. They wanted him to bring the package back, because some small things had been found in the bottom of his bin, something about a teapot or teacup and he'd bring it out tomorrow.

Anyways, on to the pictures.
The Whole Lot!!!

All kinds of samples. There's upholstery fabric, veneer samples, countertop (?) samples, textured wallpaper, and tiles.

2 sets of purse handles, random papers for scrapbooking, fabric scraps, bath salts, sculpy glaze, 2 tools (eyelet setter? and Huh), buttons and gift bags.

And look at all these fabric. These are the good sized pieces. That top snake like print is a dress to recon.

Everything is so awesome, I don't know where to start. Thanks SOOOO much Crafty!!!!

Yay, I received my second box today from iheartzb. What a great box!!!

Here's the whole lot!

A Bunch of CORKS!!!

A Label Maker, how cool is that? And the bubble paper recipe.

Some glass, and great starfish!

Look at all these buttons. I swear I was the only Craftster Member without a button stash, but my two partners got me caught up. There's also a jar of beads and a few charms.

Upolstry fabric samples and a couple iron on transfers. The Fabric will be great for showing of the jewelry I make.

Thanks so much iheartzb. Great Swap!!
