1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Thick and cosy hat - my first Crafster item! on: January 14, 2008 03:34:49 PM

I don't think this is going to work!  I've manged to get the pictures into the gallery on here.  But I can't figure out getting them into this post.  Sorry if nothing appears.

Anyway - this is a hat made from beatiful 100% wool bought here in Turkey.  It's 3 strands of the same multi-coloured yarn worked together, so the finished result is extremely cosy and warm.  The top-stitch detail is worked with 6 strands.  I did work from a pattern, but have had to adapt it so much as I went along - that it is a lot different from the original.  I do love the stitch though, it looks really different and was so easy to achieve.

I'm going to do one next in chunky chenille - I think that black, brown and cream together would work well; but I'll add more stitches in next time for a floppier effect.

Hmmm - the photos are here - but a bit hap-hazard.  No doubt I'll get the hang of it eventually. Smiley
2  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Hello - why haven't I found this site before? on: January 12, 2008 02:38:28 AM
It feels like home!   Grin

I'm Jan, originally from Cornwall, UK - now living in Turkey.  I'm a bit of a crochet nut, but strongly suspect I have bi-stitchual tendancies, as I tend to swing towards knitting every once in a while.  I used to do a lot of sewing, and some of the wonderful makes on here are inspiring me to get my machine out of the attic.  Looking forward to taking part in some of the group challenges.  Huh  Roll Eyes  Tongue  Smiley
