QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER Please send to kartiana:
Name of swap
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name
Mailing address including the country
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside your own country?
Confirm that are at least 16 years old or, if not, that you have moderator approval(YES/NO)
Are you a Friend of Craftster?
Do you have access to a camera or scanner so you can post pictures here of what you receive? (if not, you need to tell anyone who claims you)

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO ORGANIZER VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.

Also, remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find other rules about participating in a swap.

YOU CANNOT PARTICIPATE UNLESS YOU PM ME AND I ADD YOU TO THE LIST!

***PLEASE! Do not claim someone while waiting for approval!*** You may claim as soon as you get confirmation from me.

Do not sign up if you are currently late in sending in the previous Ongoing ATC Swap.

You can sign up at any time during the month.  Once all of your claims have been received you can request to be removed from the swap and I will issue feedback.

How This Swap Works:
Please READ CAREFULLY! This swap works differently than most!

Try to imagine a chain.  The first link is the first person whose theme list is on page 1 (Person A) – (this will be the organizer as will the last wish closing out the swap)
Now, we want to put another link in the chain.  People will read that list and see if they want to make an ATC from that list.  To make a claim, you would post a reply to the thread with an introduction and a theme list of your own. Then, someone else in the swap will make a claim from your list! And they'll post the same introduction with their info, and their list of themes. And so the chain is built, link by link.
When you want to make a claim, you can ONLY pick from the very last theme list in the chain.  You can't pick anyone else in the chain - you can only connect to the very end of the chain, which is that last list posted.

More about claiming:
The first part of your post is the claim you're making, and an introduction for whomever will later claim you. The introduction says
a) that you're claiming Person A (who has the most recent list);
b) what theme of ATC you're going to send them;
c) however many times you have picked someone;
d) how many of your ATCs are in transit to their destination;
e) how many of your ATCs have been received by the people you previously claimed; and
f) what country you live in.
You may also want to note allergies or anything that you would not like to receive. The second part of your post is your list of themes.
Quote
EXAMPLE POST:
I claim Person A for a zombie ATC.  This is my 3rd claim, 2 sent, 1 received.
 I live in Massachusetts, USA.  I would prefer not to receive anything violent, political, or religious.   My themes are:
1)   funny foods
2)   polka dots
3)   monster movies
4)   The letter E
5)   cats

 Be sure to PM the person you have claimed for their address.  Or you can PM the person who claimed you and send them your address.

Friends of Craftster are allowed 10 claims at one time, others are allowed 7.  If this is your first swap, you are only allowed one claim.  When that claim is received you can then claim the number of times you are allowed depending on your membership status.  (Become a Friend of Craftster!)

 If you already have one claim that will be sent out late, please don't claim again until that one is sent out.   You DO NOT need a DC# for this swap, but if your ATC is not received, you will need to resend.

If you are at your limit of claims, you can choose again once one of your partners receives, NOT when you send.
***Do not claim someone unless you can fulfill that wish to a high caliber***
Let's keep the quality of work high!  Do your best, and send something you would like to receive if you were the recipient.

If the thread gets in a rut for a few days/hours, the person who made the last claim should add to their theme list if they can think of anything else, until someone decides to craft for them.

After receiving an ATC, be sure to post a picture of it in the gallery.  You will not receive feedback until you do. But if you lack a camera or scanner, or are having camera/scanner troubles, that won't affect your feedback but you'll need to tell the person who has claimed you right away so that they can take a picture before sending.

Communicate!  Post in the discussion thread! Send PMs whenever you send, receive, or have a question/comment. If you are having issues, please tell the organizer and the person you have claimed. When you send or receive, include both the organizer and the person who is receiving/sending in the PM.

14  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Seed spacing... do I have to follow the package directions? :p on: March 29, 2010 02:38:45 PM
My husband and I are planting our first garden and it has gone from a few plants into half our backyard! We are planning everything on paper before we start planting and it is quite tricky fitting all the spacings into it... I am surprised with he herbs that need 18" between rows and I'm wondering how close I could put them without ruining everything.  Tongue Will they just grow less but still be good if I cut the spacing in half or take a few inches off? Are there some plants that I can ignore the package on and others that I should follow exactly? I'd appreciate any help!

Here is a list of some of the plants we will be planting that I'd like advice on:
Tomatoes
Cherry tomatoes
Squash
Watermelon
Cantaloupe
Green beans
Garden beans
Beets
Lettuce
Fennel
Cilantro
Parsley
Spearmint

We have a bunch of others, but they all fit with the package spacing  Smiley

Thanks!!!

- If outside the US, understands that a mailing receipt copy is required for this swap: YES/NO

Details of swap:
In this swap everyone will pick a favorite story, poem, myth, etc that they would like to have illustrated. The stories will be broken into sections and shared with your group. Each person in the group will craft one part from everyone’s story and will receive a different part of their story from each person. So everyone will end with an illustrated/decorated story with each page done by a different crafter.

You will be crafting one page per partner and can have 1, 3, or 5 partners:
~ First time swappers can sign up for 1
~ Other swappers can sign up for 1 or 3
~ FOC can sign up for 1, 3, or 5

For ideas/inspiration you can check out the round 1 gallery or craftster’s paper crafting board

Swap Rules:
~ Send your story to organizer on time (by end of signups) for approval
~ If your story is not approved you must be ready to pick another one quickly. If it is too long you can decide to only have part of it crafted (saving the rest for yourself or a future round of this swap)
~ Keep stories and art PG13, NO exceptions.
~ PM your partner and organizer when you send and receive. You must get a DC# for this swap, if you can’t get one due to size/weight then you must keep your receipt as proof of sending.
~ You will get feedback for this swap when all your pages have been sent & received, and when you post pictures of all the pages you receive in the gallery.

When it’s time to post pictures in the gallery please post your received story pages in chronological order so everyone can read it!

Page Requirements:
~ This is a craft swap, be creative! Each page needs to be illustrated in some way.
~ Put effort into your work; think about what you would like to receive. Each page should take you 15 minutes or more to craft.
~ For each page you craft you must include the text of your section (this can be done creatively or not, but should look nice. If you need to include it separate from the illustration you can print it on the same size paper with binding strip space and it does not need to be crafty, but you can add a border/little decoration anyway)
~ Do not alter the text of any section you are crafting unless you have approval from your partner (and let organizer know)
~ Include your artist information on a small card (think ATC size) for each page you create
~ Pages should only be crafted on one side (this is for binding reasons) if you want to craft on both sides ask your partner(s) if this will work for their book (or you could always craft an extra page if you want to spoil them Wink )

Be creative! Your pages can be done in a variety of ways; collages, comic book format, paint, 3-D popup, computer graphics, photographs, pictures done in cross stitch, etc

Page setup options, use this to describe how you want your pages to be and refer to this when you are crafting your partner(s) pages (you will only be decorating one side of the paper):
Traditional page – Longest sides of paper are the sides of the page, shortest sides are the top and bottom of the page
Sideways page – Longest sides of paper are the top and bottom of the page, shortest sides are the sides of the page
Folded page - Fold paper in half, fold will be between the short sides of the paper (this creates two “pages” on one side)
Binding strip – The amount of room on any given side that needs to be left blank for binding

16  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Mail Art ~ Mail as-is with no packaging so the world can see as it travels! on: March 18, 2010 11:31:10 AM
I've been on a paper crafting/swapping kick since it costs less to mail than a swap package  Smiley And I had the crazy idea that it would be fun to make a piece of art and send it on its way with no packaging, like a postcard. I know there have been similar swaps (postcard swap, post secrets) but I'm not sure if this has ever been done...

Basically everyone would craft a flat piece of art leaving the back blank for attaching the address and stamp(s), then send it.  Cheesy

I looked up the size limits for the USPS, so the art could be anywhere in that range!

http://pe.usps.gov/text/dmm300/101.htm
"Dimensional Standards for Letters
Letter-size mail is:

a.
Not less than 5 inches long, 3-1/2 inches high, and 0.007-inch thick.
b.
Not more than 11-1/2 inches long, or more than 6-1/8 inches high, or more than 1/4-inch thick.
c.
Not more than 3.5 ounces (First-Class Mail letter-size pieces over 3.5 ounces pay flat-size prices).
d.
Rectangular, with four square corners and parallel opposite sides. Letter-size, card-type mailpieces made of cardstock may have finished corners that do not exceed a radius of 0.125 inch (1/8 inch)."

18  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Inchie Secrets (post secrets meet inchies) Signups to start in August! on: February 09, 2010 03:32:16 PM
July 19 Update: Thinking about starting signups soon if there is enough interest! Scroll down for more info  Smiley

I just had a crazy idea. What if... we made inchie secrets? They'd be like post secrets, but with a twist. Since inchies are so small instead of crafting our secret onto the inchie, we would craft the inchie onto our secret  Wink Confused yet? I was playing around with the idea and wrote about a paragraph of random thoughts onto a file folder, cut it into inchies, and threw a bunch of stuff on there (just to see what it'd look like, was not trying for art Tongue )

I like how it has the words "reveal the secret" Smiley

I thought it might be fun and therapeutic to write down a secret and cut it up, craft over it, and send pieces of my secret all over the world. Everyone would know that it's my secret they are getting, but they wouldn't know what my secret is!
19  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Bookmarks made from books :) With mini tutorial on: February 05, 2010 07:39:13 AM
I made a few bookmarks for the bookmark swap and I really like how one of them turned out (so did my husband) so I made a few more in the same style for my mother-in-law's birthday  Smiley

Here are the first ones I made for my swap partner:

They are native american themed and the one on the right is an image of a girl looking up that I printed onto the book paper then colored with colored pencils.

Using the same technique I printed two pages for my mother-in-law and made these:

"A good book is like a warm sauna" "Hyvδ kirja on kuin lδmmin sauna"
I added little steamy curls that are a little hard to see in the picture. The blue ribbon and buttons make me think of Finland Smiley (we are both Finnish)

And she loves cats:

"You should be paying attention to me"

back to show off the shell button:

Mini tutorial (in words):
~ Find an image you like that will look good when shrunk down to bookmark size
~ Test print onto a regular page of printer paper (not how the paper starts in the printer tray and comes out, you can do this by writing something on the top of one side before printing)
~ Tape the book paper over the image once you like the size. I only used a few small pieces of tape and focused on the side that went in first so it would not get caught/folded by the printing thingies
~ Place paper with book paper in print tray, remembering how it needs to be placed to come out with the image in the same place
~ Color
~ Glue onto card stock, or what-have you (I used a file folder)
~ Cut out, embellish, admire!

I don't have pics, but I made a few color printed pages for the paper supply swap that my partner loved. I used the same technique, just made the images as large as the book paper and printed them in color.  Smiley

Be sure to have extra pages on hand! I messed up quite a but even after I had my technique down  Wink And if you make your own I'd love to see!
20  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / FOUND - Illustrate My Favorite Story Swap - 1 Replacement Partner on: February 04, 2010 04:29:02 PM
Thanks Dr.RubyDoomsday for offering to be jayla614's replacement partner!  Smiley

Swap Name: Illustrate My Favorite Story Swap
Original Thread link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=334387.0
Gallery thread link: None yet

Need one replacement partner, not an angel, for jayla614 in the Illustrate My Favorite Story Swap. The idea of this swap is to end up with a complete story/poem that is crafted/illustrated by multiple crafters that you can bind into a book for yourself.

You will be crafting one page for a section of the poem "Annabel Lee" By Edgar Alan Poe and you will be getting one page in return from a story/poem you choose. Please PM me if you would like to be a replacement partner. If you can include the questionnaire from the swap thread that would be great, but you can send me a quick PM first if you like  Smiley The swap has just started, but I'm willing to extend the sending deadline.

jayla614 lives in the US, here are some parts of her questionnaire:
What is the title of your story? Annabel Lee
What genre is your story (fantasy, sci-fi, historical…)?
romantic tragedy
What subject(s) and theme(s) does your story contain? love, death, the sea, angels
What are some of your favorite colors, styles, and themes? colors: dark red, blue, black.
dark, bizarre, otherworldly... I see this story as being lighthearted in the beginning and getting increasingly darker.
What size paper do you want your story pages to be (8 ½” x 11” or less)? 8 1/2 x 11
Anything else you want to share with your partners?
I am really just interested in seeing what the artist creates. I don't have any specifics in mind as to what I want.
Do you have any allergies/allergens in your home?
one cat

Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe
broken into the three sections, you will be crafting part 2 (purple section)

Part 1 –
It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

Part 2 –
I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love -
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.
And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulcher
In this kingdom by the sea.
The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me
Yes! that was the reason
(as all men know, In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

Part 3 –
But our love was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we
Of many far wiser than we
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.
For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride,
In the sepulcher there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.
