71  Puffles, a penguin and 2 aminekos in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by teachingjonah on: March 09, 2008 09:53:44 AM
I made these puffles and penguin back in December, but I like them.  The puffles are from the Club Penguin Game.  The penguin is from a free pattern on the Lion's Brand website.

My youngest son wanted a grey cat, and my older son wanted Tom from Tom and Jerry, so I had an excuse to make my first aminekos.

Thanks for looking Smiley

I can't remember who asked, but I had an idea for boy poppet hair today.
I was thinking of crocheting funfur amigurumi style into a wig.  The fun fur all goes to oneside.  I did this when I made some puffles (club penguin) for my boy and it turned out well.  I'll try to post a picture to show you.

76  Dragon Poppet in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by teachingjonah on: February 18, 2008 11:19:26 AM
So, I had no intention of creating this poppet, but as I searched for freckly poppet fabric, I came upon this beautiful cheetah print suede.  It just said dragon to me.  What do you think?

78  Finally! My first poppet!...Now with dress tute in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by teachingjonah on: February 11, 2008 08:18:57 PM
I am so excited that I finally conquered my fear of creating a poppet.  I have been so inspired by the many fantastic poppets out there, and I had to make one of my own.  I am in love.  Her name is Junebug Jewel.  Thank you Ghilie and all the poppet craftsters!

In her green dress

Poppet Halter dress
I made this dress late last night without a pattern, but here is a tute from memory.  I used an I hook and worsted weight yarn.
Starting at the neckline.
1.   With main color, ch 5
2.   turn *2 sc in 1st st, sc, sc, sc, 2 sc in last st, ch 1, turn
3.   Continue making rows by increasing in the 1st st, sc across until the last stitch, increase in the last st, chain 1 and turn until the bodice can wrap around the poppet and join under the poppets tail. (I think I made 14 or 15 rows ...I should keep notes)
4.   Join the row with a slip stitch (I actually had to make a couple of chains to make the join, so the dress wouldnt be so tight)
5.   I then started to crochet in the round without joining.
6.   First round Sc in front loop only of all stitches
7.   second round *sc in both loops of next st, 2sc in next st*
8.   3rd round * sc, sc, 2sc*
9.   4th round all sc
10.   5th and 6th rounds all hdc
11.   7th and 8th round all dc
12.   9th round all sc.

Crisscross straps
With Contrasting color
Join the CC in a loop on the back of the dress to the right of the tail.
Ch 15
Join the chain  the left shoulder.
Sc across the neckline to the right shoulder.
Ch 15
Join the chain to the back of the dress to the left of the tail.
Finish off and weave in the ends or sc across from the last join to the first join under the tail.

Hope that makes sense!

80  bunny became a dog in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by teachingjonah on: January 18, 2008 09:26:06 PM
This is my first post, so I'm sorry if I screw it up.  I hadn't crocheted in quite awhile, but I came across this site when I was looking for a sock monkey pattern and got turned on to amigurumi.  I have spent the last few months getting reaquaintted with my hooks.
I fell in love with Rheatheylia's lavender bunny and made one in gray.  I screwed up the stitch count on my next try and ended up making a dog instead.  I hope you like it Smiley
