I am so excited that I finally conquered my fear of creating a poppet. I have been so inspired by the many fantastic poppets out there, and I had to make one of my own. I am in love. Her name is Junebug Jewel. Thank you Ghilie and all the poppet craftsters!

In her green dress

Poppet Halter dress
I made this dress late last night without a pattern, but here is a tute from memory. I used an I hook and worsted weight yarn.
Starting at the neckline.
1. With main color, ch 5
2. turn *2 sc in 1st st, sc, sc, sc, 2 sc in last st, ch 1, turn
3. Continue making rows by increasing in the 1st st, sc across until the last stitch, increase in the last st, chain 1 and turn until the bodice can wrap around the poppet and join under the poppet’s tail. (I think I made 14 or 15 rows ...I should keep notes)
4. Join the row with a slip stitch (I actually had to make a couple of chains to make the join, so the dress wouldn’t be so tight)
5. I then started to crochet in the round without joining.
6. First round Sc in front loop only of all stitches
7. second round *sc in both loops of next st, 2sc in next st*
8. 3rd round * sc, sc, 2sc*
9. 4th round all sc
10. 5th and 6th rounds all hdc
11. 7th and 8th round all dc
12. 9th round all sc.
Crisscross straps
With Contrasting color
Join the CC in a loop on the back of the dress to the right of the tail.
Ch 15
Join the chain the left shoulder.
Sc across the neckline to the right shoulder.
Ch 15
Join the chain to the back of the dress to the left of the tail.
Finish off and weave in the ends or sc across from the last join to the first join under the tail.
Hope that makes sense!
