1  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Giuseppe Zanotti shoes help! on: April 01, 2008 10:43:26 AM
So I love these Giuseppe Zanotti rose bud sandals but what I don't love is the pricetag ($550  Shocked )
See these images for reference:

I think I can make a good looking knockoff, and what's more is that I want to make a pair that has snap on rose buds so that I can change the color according to mood/outfit!

A couple of questions, though the project seems, at first glance, relatively easy and self-explanatory:
1) Any suggestions for a good-quality, affordable, comfortable sandal in a similar style?
2) Anybody know where to get oversized satin rose buds like the ones pictured?  If not, is there an easy way to make them myself?  Is there a tutorial I could follow?  The solid colors would be easier, but I wouldn't know how to go about making the 2-colored one in the first picture.

THANKS!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: A garbage can made from garbage. How poetic. on: March 13, 2008 12:04:28 PM
So I have this book and I love the projects in it, but I find the direction are often unclear, especially with this project.  lovething, would you mind elaborating on the directions if it's not too much trouble?  I don't know when to use the hot glue gun and when to use Elmer's, or why I'm supposed to begin with the metal bowl ... I just am someone who needs these things explicitly shown/explained to me when I want to mimic a project.  Would you mind shedding some light?  I'd be eternally grateful as your final creation is so wonderful to me.  Great job, and thank you in advance if you can offer any helpful words!

Yeah, truly stunning.  Always loved the dress.  And the color is great too.  Would love to see more pictures!

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Renamed Golden Frog! Now with Super" Mature "commentary! Don't look! on: January 20, 2008 03:17:02 PM
This board is too prudish for me!  I'm done.

No need for the updated sarcasm in the original post, nor is there any need to be "done" with this board.

Your piece is well-constructed and definitely has appeal to a wide crowd.

I think that some of us were just concerned as this IS a public forum and there ARE some younger members to be aware of.  Thank you for changing the title but I am a little dismayed at your immature reaction.  We're just trying to look out for the well-being of ALL craftsters.  I'll get off of the podium now.

Even if you're done here, I hope you keep on crafting because as I said, penis or frog, your piece is well-made and unique.
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Golden Frog! Kiss it! on: January 20, 2008 11:13:09 AM

And I'm really, really sorry, but I really don't see a frog in this. You have to be a bit careful with those two-large-beads-and-a-long-thin-dangle designs. There are a LOT of gutter minds out there, and I've seen things that are much less easy to misinterpret being misinterpreted.

Not to mention that pearlescent droplet dangling from the tip ... I honestly don't see how one COULDN'T see this as a penis.  It look so much more like a penis than a frog.  So even if the intent is not to look phallic, I think a warning in the title might be a courtesy to certain viewers.
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Re: Clustered beads bracelet - how to make this? on: January 13, 2008 05:48:48 PM
If you do a search on the projects section of FMG you'll find 3 or 4 there.  The beads you use and their shape is going to change the look of the finished project entirely.

Thank you for pointing me in the direction of FMG's project gallery ... I had never looked there and it is quite extensive, and FREE!  Great source.  And thanks for your tips as well.
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Have you seen anything like this? (Gossip Girl-Backless Shift Dress) on: January 13, 2008 02:55:15 PM
Hope it's okay to bump this because I'd love a dress like this.  Any ideas?
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Never again will i do such a complicated stitch! on: January 13, 2008 02:44:04 PM
Stunning and unusual ... I actually adore the color and think it fits really well with the knit.  And I'm GLAD you didn't go all the way up with that stitch ... I LOVE the change to regular stitch after the armhole.  It looks great.

Any ideas where I could find the perfect kelly/emerald green material for this dress?  I'm struggling!  Or, if I have to dye it myself, can anybody recommend silks and dyes?
