21  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / MewTwo Cosplay costume on: January 18, 2008 04:19:58 PM
So my friends and I are going to go to a cosplay convention in March, and one of those friends would like to go as MewTwo. And I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for the tail. We are thinking chicken wire, but thought it might be kind of heavy. But Paper Mache would seem like it would be kind of risky for fear of messing it up!
Any ideas would rock!
Thanks guys!

Thats Mewtwo just incase you dont know!

PS- Sorry mod's I didnt know if this should go in halloween or not, since its not technically a halloween costume. But you can move it if you want!
22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / advice for a newbie? on: January 09, 2008 09:39:28 PM
Hi I'm pretty new here! First off I want to say I was lurking on this site for not kidding about 5 hours just amazed at the wonderful things all of you guys make!
And while I'm semi-crafty (it depends on the day LOL) I have never really attempted to sew which might be bad since I am studying interior design... But my grandmother told me that she will give me her old sewing machine if I want it and of course I do! I have no clue about the model or anything like that because I havent been able to go pick it up because we need a truck to get it! Its one that is built into a desk and wont fit into my little nissan!
ANYWAYS! I would love to be able to learn to recreate some of the clothes from a very awesome rockabilly site I found and I wanted to know if any of you guys could give me some pointers on any of this! One of the first projects I would like to attempt is this shirt! (well okay not one of the first but fairly soon!) http://www.starletsandharlets.com/wholesale_punk_clothing_Corset_Beater_beater_p/fol-121a-aqua.htm
Also I would like to make a pillow that is shaped like a fortune cookie!
Any pointers would be very greatly appreciated! n
23  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / A Duct tape halloween on: January 08, 2008 11:24:22 PM
Ok I'm very new here but have been stuck on this site all day admiring and decided to join! I've always considered myself a crafty person and for halloween this year I decided to be a witch, but couldnt find any decent costumes that didnt cost an arm and a leg! So I decided to make one... now the problem is the only sewing machine I own is from the late 1800's and I really honestly have no clues if it works! And then I realized I had duct tape! So with some researching of costumes online, figuring out what I wanted, and buying out the walmart in black duct tape I got this!
Supplies: 2ish yards cheap very see through black fabric ($1/yd at walmart)
5 rolls black duct tape
1 1/2 rolls red duct tape
Anyways here are the pictures!

Back of the dress

I really loved how it turned out, even though it almost felt more vampirey than witchy but thats okay! It was great!
