31  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Easter / Re: Floss Easter Eggs on: April 16, 2012 11:11:43 PM
Well, they are fragile, so if you pack them away make sure they are on top of everything else. They have held up well to handling so far, and I expect to have them last for a couple of years at least. As long as you're careful I don't see why they wouldn't last for 5+ years. But if they do get smushed, just rinse/soak the floss and re-use it. I think that's the best part. No waste!
32  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Easter / Floss Easter Eggs on: April 16, 2012 09:11:47 PM
I decided to DIY my Easter decorations this year since it's our first in the new house. My ideas are not original, but inspired by projects found via Pinterest. But that doesn't make them any less festive!

I had loads of embroidery floss, water balloons and glue so I set to work at making a mess. I tried a few different adhesion recipes from different craft blogs until I found a concoction that suited me. The plan was to make a ton of them and hang the bunches by the entry and above the windows but I ran out of time.

You ca see that one of the mixtures left a residue Sad

Drying in my laundry room

I glittered a few of the eggs with a matching color. Tricky part was brushing the glue on individual strands without squashing the egg.

All together on my side table

Holy cow, when did postage go up so much? I spent more to send the package than I did  on groceries this week! The post office better not lose it!!

Anyway

I received last week from littlebluegirl but haven't been home to post.

Inside was a decoupaged frame and a card - both look good enough to eat Wink

LOTS of snacks and goodies as well as a scented candle

Unfortunately the kinder egg didn't make it in one piece. The toy car  inside survived, but my cat has since stolen, and lost it.

Will be sending tomorrow. I expected to be home sooner but unfortunately that wasn't the case Sad I'm posting photos tomorrow since I did receive my package just before I had to leave last week.

I sent a message and posted in the thread last week, but the front page still shows that I haven't received from freeli. I did get them, I just haven't had a chance to post a photo yet. I will be back home tomorrow and will do that then, but I did receive them.

I like the character of these stands. Did you use any sort of lacquer finish to protect the silver leafing?

Thinking about joining in. This month is super busy(different party every weekend  Shocked ), but I can always squeeze in time for embroidery and I see a couple of you have it in your wants list. If I get some things sorted by tomorrow night I will send in my questionnaire, but for now I'm gonna sleep on it.
