1  Re: Embroidery Swap R9- Not just thread! (SO Mar 5) in The Swap Gallery by pugwash on: April 24, 2013 01:43:19 PM
Oh Megzy818, you are a wonderful angel Smiley The postman left the envelope on my doorstop, so it got rained on ALL day. Luckily the contents were not wet! I really love manatees, so this hoop is perfect. The special item used were aquarium decorations. Thank you for coming to the rescue Megzy, and for taking the time during your travels to finish the hoop.

This shows how the greenery pops off the fabric.

I love the flowers on that hoop. They really pop!

Editing to add the hoop that I received from Shana82 a couple days ago. She made a cute little tree out of buttons  Smiley Still waiting on my other partner but I can't wait to see what she comes up with!

erica_tattoos and jexxican can stop worrying, I have RECEIVED!

First, so sorry guys. I've never been so busy in my life. I literally had about 2 hours of free time every day which was spent on chores, making and eating dinner and doing my "second job"(helping my folks). Today is literally the first day I've had to just sit around and catch up. It's great to finally have a job, but seriously!!

SO

I received this hoop the other day but somone threw out the packaging before I could note who it was from. Now that I know it was erica_tattoos, I can properly thank her for being so awesome! I love Adventure Time. Who doesn't?

I just received from jexxican yesterday. She mentioned that there were other plans on the drawing board for this hoop, but you know, I love it all the same because I LOVE The IT Crowd. For those of you who haven't seen it and have Netflix, start watching it immediately. That being said,

Thank you guys for the wonderful hoops. I hope that mine will be as well-received in just another day or so  Smiley

4  Floss Easter Eggs in Easter by pugwash on: April 16, 2012 09:11:47 PM
I decided to DIY my Easter decorations this year since it's our first in the new house. My ideas are not original, but inspired by projects found via Pinterest. But that doesn't make them any less festive!

I had loads of embroidery floss, water balloons and glue so I set to work at making a mess. I tried a few different adhesion recipes from different craft blogs until I found a concoction that suited me. The plan was to make a ton of them and hang the bunches by the entry and above the windows but I ran out of time.

You ca see that one of the mixtures left a residue Sad

Drying in my laundry room

I glittered a few of the eggs with a matching color. Tricky part was brushing the glue on individual strands without squashing the egg.

All together on my side table

Holy cow, when did postage go up so much? I spent more to send the package than I did  on groceries this week! The post office better not lose it!!

Anyway

I received last week from littlebluegirl but haven't been home to post.

Inside was a decoupaged frame and a card - both look good enough to eat Wink

LOTS of snacks and goodies as well as a scented candle

Unfortunately the kinder egg didn't make it in one piece. The toy car  inside survived, but my cat has since stolen, and lost it.

My partner, sloth003, received this a few weeks ago and asked me to post a photo since she's without internet until after moving. I don't know how I managed to misplace my camera, but I've found it and now I can post!

I wrapped the hoop in a contrasting yellow fabric, though it looks a little green in the photo.

I received BOTH hoops today which cheered me up since i had been feeling under the weather lately. I'm so happy. I swear if these were not mine, I'd be super jealous of the recipient.

First is from tarmine626. She did a Mario themed negative space hoop with tons of tiny french knots. They are all so neat and perfect. Hard to believe she doesn't do much embroidering other than cross stitch.

Added bonus - Thundercats logo! My boyfriend's first response was "can you put that part in its own hoop" because I've been promising to make one for ages. Don't worry though, I'm not going to take apart the hoop!

My second hoop came from sloth003. She painted the fabric and then stitched a cute willow tree with little bunnies sitting beneath it. It doesn't show up too well because of poor lighting, but the background is shimmery which is neat when the sunlight hits it. I don't know how she figured out that I adore willow trees so very much, but it made me so happy to see one in this hoop.

Thank you so much, both of you. I only hope you will like my projects as much as I love these Smiley

10  Yoshi cross-stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by pugwash on: January 26, 2012 01:26:34 AM
Sometimes the small, quick projects are the most gratifying. This little guy only took about 2 hours, but it was more like 4 since I was glued to a Dollhouse marathon. It's a small hoop, maybe 4" or so. I will probably mount it in a round hoop later because I can't find more wood grain ovals to mount the others in and I'd like the set to match.
