A serger is definitely the way to go if you can. If you can't get your hands on one, use a zigzag stitch about three times. Then make a safety stitch 1/4" away from the zigzags on the seam allowance side (the side where the extra knit is that would normally be cut off). Trim 1/4" away from that and you should be good!

Yup. That's pretty much it. The pattern will show that, though. No worries. You're on the right track!

I made this purse for my sister a few months ago and found it pretty easy. There was that bit about the pattern not accounting to a few stitches, but a couple of k2togs fixed that.

I realize I'm bumping a three week old thread, but I sooooooooooo want to make all the knits she wore in the movie. My hubby kept having to tell me shut up cause in the middle of things I'd talk about how to make whatever awesome handknit piece she was wearing. ahahhahahaha

I need a little girl willing to wear them, though. 

Maybe I can pull off knitting them in boy colors and forcing them on my toddler in hopes no one will notice how feminine they are. 

Not bad! I have a wee one at home who doesn't take too kindly with having to compete with yarn for attention so I try to pick projects I can work on between the time he falls asleep and the time I do. Something that I can get done in that short of a time is just what I need. Hell, with the speed and voracity I crochet at, I may have to dig up last year's thread and do those squares, too! haha

I kept ripping the body since I did them connected so I could fix the face. I wanted it just right since the rest of the body is pretty plain. The hubby actually said "If I hear you frogging one more time, I'm hiding the hook." ROFL

Brilliant! I've been wanting to make one for faire for so long, but just haven't gotten around to it. Maybe you've put the motivation bug in me!
