41  Re: lam lace skirt from R2 in Knitting: Completed Projects by ohmystars on: April 05, 2005 09:01:05 AM
Cute! But the lace is rather... holey. Are you going to wear it over pants? It would also be adorable over some of those little cotton shorts!

black leggings i think, as here:

or it'd be a nice beach cover-up

45  FO with pics - headline news cabled hat in Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller by ohmystars on: March 10, 2005 03:50:37 AM
a one-day project (of pretty hardcore knitting.. i'm ill, i have nothing better to do) - stitch'n'bitch nation's headline news cap:

i'm so pleased with it, considering it's my first attempt at cabling and it's the first hat i've ever owend that suits me and doesn't mess my hair up. and i snapped one of my 5.5mm needles halfway through (i must be a hard knitter) so had to switch to the nearest one i had, 6.5mm. luckily you can't really tell! it's a little longer than the pattern and the brim is accidentally a bit short, but never mind.

46  Re: Shrug it ON. :) in Knitting: Completed Projects by ohmystars on: March 08, 2005 01:27:40 PM
here's my take on it! i'm really quite pleased with it. my first attempt at sleeves! i modified the pattern a little and added a few rows of ribbing around the edges - my increases weren't very tidy so i hid them :x and i used dk weight wool with 7.5mm needles to make it a little lacier. i really recommend it as a nice gentle weekend project.

48  suit jacket messenger bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by ohmystars on: July 08, 2004 07:15:40 AM
i made this out of my boyf's old work suit jacket, loosely following http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=8148.0 neany's tutorial, but i made it wider and added a flap to make it into a messenger type bag.

front - the flap is the sleeve of the jacket, complete with cuff buttons

inside - i added the lapel as edging. the pocket is useable too

it's lined with an old shirt of his

and being worn by meee

i'm gonna add some velro or something to close the flap, at the moment it sags because the strap is only attached to the flap at the front.
i can't do a tutorial as i made it in such a roundabout way (involving lots of unpicking and redoing) i can't even remember how i got it right!

now off to the charity shop to source more old jackets!
