21  winter t-shirt surgeries (rather img heavy) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by ohmystars on: December 21, 2005 01:59:39 PM
since it's so chilly here now i decided it was time to learn how to make sleeves!

this was a too-big tee which i resized, then gave it puffy sleeves, a new neckline, and kangaroo pocket to keep my hands snug.

made this from scratch out of grey jersey, with the green recycled from another top. someone called it 'grandad style' but i take that as a compliment and it's really comfy!

this was a plain khaki tee which i drew a skull design on and gave sleeves and accents from a recycled black tee.

made from a men's large jackass tee and stripy fabric from another tee.

for the sleeves i literally just traced around the sleeves of another tee. so easy, why was i scared for so long Roll Eyes  hope you like them!

27  stripy cami - self deisgned! in Knitting: Completed Projects by ohmystars on: August 21, 2005 04:53:22 AM
i call it the capri cami because i went to capri last week and the colours - washed out taupe and glittery blue - exactly match the buildings and ocean on the island. i used exactly 3 balls of patons cotton rich dk (50% cotton 50% acrylic) and rowan lurex shimmer.

looks nice on its own or layered, as it's a bit short (only had 3 balls of yarn and i literally have a yard of each colour left) it's knit entirely on circs, in the round up to the split for button band, then back and forth all the way around - no side seams! it just needs buttons, which i've ordered - baby blue kittens ^_^

i like the shaping of the back too, it can almost be worn back to front too! i'm going to make another one with this shaping on the front.

this is all my workings in the journal. i'll tidy up the pattern and post it on my website soon!

ohmystars: how'd you get it to knit crossways across your back and not up and down?
that's just how the pattern works when you cast on - to make it up and down you'd cast on at one of the T edges, not across the top bar.
as you can see on alicesonmarie's diagram -

yep the seam where the two rectangles meet would be across the back.. pit to pit-ish.
to make a front that cinches inwards like the UO one you'd need to taper the ends of the two tips of the T. for a shwal collar you'd add more sts to the top of the T (either by increasing or picking up afte you seam it). it'd look more like this:
