1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Lobsterrifc on: February 02, 2008 10:03:46 PM
I just finished a cross-stitch that took me seven years to finish (not all of those seven years but you know, it was mirabilia midsummer nights fairy and it was all beaded etc) it's in the shop getting framed and I feel that I can't cross-stitch again for awhile Smiley so I'm branching out into other types of needlework. This is my first embroidery. I made a lobster hankie for my bestfriend because she's going through a lobster thing atm. I can't wait to get my hands on some of the sublime stitching patterns, they're hot and to do some art nouveau stuff. I'm eyeing off all my clothes to see if they would be good to stitch on Smiley

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Valentines Day Scarf on: February 02, 2008 09:50:44 PM
My friend told me that she thought Valentine's Day was sucky because she doesn't get anything. Then she told me that was code that I should buy her something. Instead I made her this scarf. With the one stitch that I know Smiley I put a hole in it so that she can feed it through and then from looking at scarves that I've brought I worked out how to put tassles on and here I present it to you... taaa.... dah.....

I crochetted it along the length of the scarf because that was the only way that I knew I could make a hole in it.

Regards Kat

Hi Everyone,

This is my first crochet post. I only know one stitch Smiley single chain, but I have found it to be very versatile. In the past week I've made two scarves, one to use up my scrap wool from around the place. I buy it because I love the colours but mostly it gets used for tying chicken legs together before baking or wrapping gifts because I can't find any sticky tape.

Here it is up close, don't pay attention to the ends I don't weave in I'm lazy and also I didn't change colours that the ends of rows just when I felt like it. I'm trying to give up an addiction to online games e.g. world of warcraft etc so crocheting while watching dvd's is working for me Smiley

and me as Ninja Craftster

Thanks for looking Smiley I'm going to learn another stitch soon Smiley
4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Tomatoey Goodness on: February 02, 2008 09:35:48 PM
Hi Everyone,

This is my first post of something that I made on crafster (my other posts have been ooo's and ahh's of other peoples things).

Yesterday my boyfriend, my cousin Bernard and I went to the vegie market near him and brought the cheapy vegies out the front we got 10 kilos of tomatoes from out the front that were about 1.5 kilo's for $1 Australian and we set to work.

In the end we finished up with 10 jars of Chutney (adapted from the Glutney recipe by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (www.rivercottage.net ), 8 jars of tomato sauce (called ketchup by some, made from the Jamie Oliver cookbook (AMAZING)) and 6 jars of pasta sauce (with zucchini, garlic, onion and fresh herbs from my garden) to be tipped over pasta for a quick meal or turned into delicious pasta meals. It was so much fun and a great family event. The picture below the share that I took away.

Chutney down the front, Sauce/ketcup to the right rear and Pasta Sauce to the left rear.

Hey All

Most excited to have been sent to this website. Originally a craftster challenge item was linked to me on MSN when I was going to bed and about 4 hours later I dragged myself away from my computer.

I am right into sci fi and fantasy lit but at them moment I'm reading Richard Dawkins. I'm a skeptic and a gamer. Today I got my boyfriend to take photos of my 5 latest projects. I have to say that my return to crafting has been inspired by everyone who posts here. I had given it up for gaming but I realise it's so much more fun to do craft in my spare time because in the end I have something beautiful to show for it whereas when I was spending all my spare time gaming all I had to show for it was a sore butt.

I'm a commando craftster in that I don't have very much training in anything but I'll give every craft a go! Plus the back of my craft never looks as good as my front (don't look at my hems too hard or the back of my cross-stitch).

I'm in Brisbane, Australia and my name is Kat.

YAY craftster.
