1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: My Senior BFA Exhibition: Three-Dimensional Art Quilts (IMG & TEXT ROTUND) on: February 21, 2009 04:57:44 PM
incredible, incredible, incredible.  I am just stunned at the details and the amount of work and heart that went into it-- though it wasn't your first choice, this really worked out beautifully.  Thanks for the inspiration! I hope my senior show can be this solid.
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Painting telephones on: February 21, 2009 04:53:53 PM
For my painting final last semester, the assignment was to pick an object and paint it in four different styles.  My object was "old-fashioned telephone" and here's what I did!

All four of them together:

First style: Copy an artist's style-- I chose Joan Mir. Acrylic.

Second: Realistic-- this one took me at least 8 or 9 hours to paint. Acrylic.

Third: Decorative

Fourth: Mixed media-- for this one, I wove strips of phonebook paper together, then used yellowpages for the ear pieces, also used acrylic paint.

Any feedback is appreciated-- thanks for looking!

Thanks so much for the kind words!

Heh, the awesome bonus of doing all this work for school: free supplies. Cheesy  I don't know if I would have been so free to experiment if they weren't at my disposal.  Smiley

Hey, thanks! Yeah-- the clear glaze sealed them, so they're all completely functional dishes.

For my ceramics class last semester, I really wanted to try something interesting with the underglazes, so this is what I came up with.  It's all wheel-thrown, coloured with underglaze and a clear glaze over top.

So there you go-- let me know what you think!

Thanks! Smiley

Actually, I didn't do anything to the edges to prevent fraying, and they did fray a little bit.  It wasn't a bunch, though, so after it all dried, and went in with a nail clipper and cut off the stringy-strings.  From any distance other than right up next to it, it looks pretty smooth. Heh, if anybody would have some fantastic tips on how to make it not fray, that would be fantastic. Smiley
