1  Re: DIY Kit Swap Round 10 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by justusetape on: May 31, 2008 01:18:43 PM
I received from 1boy1girl1kitty2!

The kiddos get first go at all packages, it seems...

And here it is! Dyed and undyed wool, dyes, gloves, smell-helper and a totally wonderful, detailed how-to book. Every little step is explained, which is great. It makes it so nice to be able to just dive right into something without having to interpret unfamiliar instructons.

And a close-up of the gorgeous yarns:

Thank you so much 1boy1girl1kitty2. I can't wait to get started.

I am finally posting the photos of the wonderful items crafted by waterbaby. They arrived a week ago but I have been on vacation. My apologies for taking so long, but it was worth the wait! Everything is beautiful.

Upon opening the box:

And all of the carefully-wrapped treasures waiting to be discovered:

A nice card explaining each of the items she crafted, wrapped with a ribbon holding onto a gorgeous sun-stamped and hand-colored (onto the back of a vinatge domino) pendant:

The first item I unwrapped was a cute mobile made from glow-in-the-dark stars and astronomical bodies hanging from a used AOL cd (glad to know those are good for something!) Of course my 3-year-old immediately claimed this as her own, but I think I am going to keep it and hang it on the porch. Waterbaby included the unused stars and those will go on my daughter's ceiling.
I did try for a glowing-in-the-dark photo but could not quite get that to work... But trust me, it looks way cool.

Next an enticing little pouch held a beautiful necklace. A stamped astronomer colored with watercolors onto a domino. I LOVE it! It is so up my alley I just can't get over it. I am not a jewelry wearer, but there are a few items I will put on and this is definitely one of them!

And lastly we have the super-cool, super-amazing, masterfully-crocheted SEA SLUG! (aka nudibranch) Too cool! She even gathered all the data on this creature and published a booklet so my family and I can learn all about this little, uh, guy? girl? Seems these neat little creatures are hermaphroditic...
And as soon as we develop a rapport, I will give my new sea slug a name.

My baby is not quite sure what to think...

And as I was on vacation at the beach when I opened the package, I had to take some photos of sea slug in its natural habitat--the ocean (well, as near to the ocean as textile creatures should get):

Thank you so much waterbaby, these gifts are so awesome and I could not have asked for a more thoughtful or meticulous partner.

I got my package from astormorray and it is WONDERFUL! I love the hat, and with a built-in brim, it is just right for our 364 sunny days a year! And the twisty cable detail is lovely. She also included this yummy, earthen-esque yarn that I can't wait to work with. Thank you astormorray! You are awesome.

5  St Patrick's Day Dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by justusetape on: March 15, 2008 07:01:38 PM
Made this up last night for my daughter's party on Monday. Just turned an old T upside down, added the skirt and straps and painted on a leprechaun girl and rainbow. She has already been enjoying it.

9  Painting the fireplace in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by justusetape on: February 01, 2008 08:32:42 AM
I recently painted the fireplace mantel. The old all-white version was just too dull. The imagery in the 2 main panels is a scene of my family camping out in the mountains. I'm fishing, my husband is playing guitar, and my kids are in the stream. But the dog is not our real dog. Instead of painting our real dog, I painted a well-behaved dog.

10  Spooky Cake in Dessert by justusetape on: January 20, 2008 04:48:32 PM
This one was for my husband's birthday (which is right before Halloween). The decorations were inspired by a drawing the the Half Price Books 2007 Calendar. The inside is chocolate, the BEST chocolate cake recipe ever! It is the one on the back of Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa Powder.
